It’s a bummer cause it’s a great show.

But I also wondered how long they were going to keep someone like Groff tied down too with his Broadway presence and other acting opportunities. I’m pretty sure I saw a preview of something with Anna Torv in it the other day on a streaming service too.

And as much as I like the first 6 or 7 Love, Death and Robots, I think there is room for both. Hate that Fincher (or Netflix) thought otherwise.

Mindhunter was fantastic, although they probably pissed off some folks (politically) with their handling of the Atlanta case. I don't want to diverge down that road too much as this is the M/TV board.

Too many solid shows getting chopped with cliffhanger finales.

Yeah, they greenlit everything, but they don't want to continue with shows that obviously have established fan bases. Amazon has been guilty of the other way - more selective, but willing to stick with it - or in The Expanse's case, resurrect it from another source after cancellation.

It kind of went off the rails a tiny bit with the son being involved in a murder.

The only flaw really. I remember telling my wife how cliche it would be if the son was the killer. I laughed when it turned out to be involved.

Other than that it is a great show, and this is yet another example of a netflix show getting the ax. I'm over this shite.

that and imo, it got bogged down for focusing so much on the atlanta child murders. The first season was superior to the second in the pacing and less focused plot.

I really hope that its not the last we see from this show.

Yeah, and there was absolutely no need for it. The show is awash in murders. Why not focus on coming home to a "normal" seventies family after such a weird shocking horrific work day.

Just seems like Fincher wants to do other things and didn't find it fair to keep the actors on contract while he did those other things

Noah Hawley did something similar with Fargo. He left after 3 seasons to do other things, but always left open the possibility for another season.

3 years later, and season 4 is on the way

And it's not like the Mindhunter main cast is going to be totally unavailable in the future. They have good careers but I don't see any of them outgrowing the show.

Hell, (SPOILER ALERT) the BTK Killer wasn't caught until 2005. They could abandon this show for a decade and the lead actors would just be more appropriately aged for a final season.

Right. I always wondered if they were gonna jump for ahead to BTK. Maybe this is sort of the plan.

I don't trust netflix based on previous bad moves, so I am skeptical this isn't them doing this. The Fincher angle may just be PR play.

What are you talking about? What does Netflix have to gain by canceling the show? It’s one of their most talked about shows. It’s a critical darling. And they are still working with Fincher. This was clearly his call.

What do they gain by cancelling any of the shows that they have cancelled? DD and Punisher were two of their highest rated series, yet they got booted. Please, enlighten me.

I understand why they wouldn't want to keep producing content owned by a competitor with it's own new streaming service.

As far as Mindhunter goes, it's not really their decision. Similar to HBO with Watchmen, this is all Fincher's decision and they didn't want to continue it without him.

Let’s not pretend this show didn’t have its weaknesses. The female Dr. Lesbian storyline and whatever that arc was with that guys son for starters.

I thought the show was interesting and I liked the thrill. But after season 2, it needs a break or help. Maybe refocused. Some of it dragged. It seemed to create conflict for sake of conflict.

I mean I won't contest that it had flaws, but saying it needed a break or help is based on what standard?

I don't think the last couple of years have been great for new series by any platform, as many great ones have come off the board in the last 5 years or so.

I upvoted for this, but the rest of your statement is dumb. Just because a series has a couple of flaws does not meant it's best for it to go on a hiatus or be discontinued.

No but my point was the time could be used to be refocused, which I don’t think is a bad thing. Whether that’s the writers or directors.
