I am thoroughly confused. I'm an OT era, hard core SW fan and I loved it. Absolutely loved it. My buddy that I saw it with, same. My brother who is also a lifelong hardcore fan loved it. Everyone I know personally that has seen it loved it. The only place I'm seeing hate is the internet.
Same here.. and it’s funny when everyone brings up the audience scores no one mentions IMDB where it’s like 8/10 with almost as many votes as RT and Cinemascore where it gets an A.. and that’s actual people polled that are getting out of the movie, not someone who is clicking a button and may not have even watched the movie yet.

Yeah that's not SJW, that's just you being a whiny pussy. You're just as bad as the SJWs who bitch about a movie not being diverse enough

I don't know about the RT scores but IMDB user scores are always absolutely retarded.
Movie was about a 6/10 for me. I'm not a huge Star Wars guy though.

Maybe you should have moseyed over to the actual reviews page. There is no way an 8/10 can be supported when the entire first page has nothing but negative comments. IMDB is just another review site that Disney got to and froze their ratings score, as the poor ratings began to flow in. Heres a snippet of the first page

And the overall score is still an 8, point being the majority still liked it. The ones who hated are just a vocal minority

That was the exact reviews from the first page when I clicked on it. Did not add or delete a single review
And its ordered by "Most Helpful", which also means most of the negative reviews are being seen as the most informative by other users. That's IMDB policy, not mine

No, it means that they have frozen their average score, because all the newer reviews are overwhelmingly negative, yet the average doesn't change
The numbers on RT, Meta, and IMDB now haven't changed in 18 hours, which is BS with the supposed number of people that are going to see it. At least one of those services should have ticked up or down at least 1/10th in 18 hours. Nope, nada, nein! No movement whatsoever. They have all been paid to lock it down
Just like you now know the critics were paid to write positive reviews

Sure bro it's all a big conspiracy, it couldn't be that the movie outside the casino was pretty solid.

Frankly I don't care for fan scores on big movies like this, because it's either a bunch of people bitching because it's not exactly what they wanted or it's people blinded by fandom.
Hence why I'm trustworthy of the critics or just my own opinion

Haven't seen it yet. Going to wait to let the fever die down, so I can see it in a relaxed setting.
I don't really care about the business/money aspect... I am a huge Star Wars fan going back to my childhood love of the original movie. Clearly, I am one of many like this, as Star Wars is as big a franchise as anything out there. Kind of funny now that Disney owns it, along with Marvel and all the Disney animated films... they have everything that produces toys (or at least it seems to be the case).
The condenscending "it didn't go the direction you wanted, and now you are throwing a fit" remarks- that's a bit off-base to attack someone for.
Star Wars has been HUGE since the 70's, and it DOES have a direction. It always has. Like classic James Bond movies, there are certain elements that you can anticipate, and that's part of the reason you go see it. Going against the grain on these elements is going to upset a lot of fans. Permanent changes (like on-screen deaths of major characters) completely alter the story in a way you can't go correct later on.
Without going into spoiler detail, I agree about the concerns around Luke and Leia. Carrie Fisher is dead, and I'm sorry, I don't want to pay to see a future live-action film where a prominent figure is just CGI. That goes beyond Star Wars, that's a basic movie model decision... animated is one thing. Recasting is one thing (the Bond series, for example). But "casting" a computer-generated likeness of a human for a major role, something we don't seem to have any other choice but to do- that alters the entire medium.
I'm not paying top dollar to watch a CGI Humphrey Bogart in a movie, I won't do that for Carrie Fisher either. I found the recent Marvel attempts to de-age Michael Douglass and Kurt Russell to be distracting, and didn't care for CGI Leia and Tarkin in Rogue One (visually, they were off). I want live actors.

No, its Disney spending money to protect its investment. They have a Star Wars hotel coming, a Star Wars section in theme parks, rides, stage shows, another installment in this trilogy, and 2 more trilogies are slated
If this movie burns all that to the ground, they have wasted a shite ton of money
So they are spending PR money now, to protect that future investment for later. I think what they are coming to realize is that Star Wars isn't a Universe like MCU, where you simply interchange characters. SW is about a very powerful family that no one wants to see get gutted. Just so they can bring out the next set of character merchandise

This movie was just straight up BAD and cheapens the original trilogy characters in the worst ways possible.
hardly.
I think that people are pissed that Rey turned out not to be Palpatine's daughter...or Luke turned out to be fairly broken after his failure with Ben Solo. Again, the direction they went wasn't expected by the internet trolls thus the crying. Anyone who thinks this movie was bad is sad because there wasn't enough pew pew. The story itself was good...and I say that as someone who wished the saga had gone in a different direction...(I really thought Rey might be a skywalker because Star Wars has always...including the prequels...been about the Skywalker family). But I can put aside that disappointment and enjoy the story...because it was quite good.

Well if small no-name companies hire people all the time over the internet to write phony reviews for some crap product...
Sure as hell, Disney can easily round-up a bunch of people at home sitting on their computers to do the same.
I'm surprised they let it get down to 56%.
Ghostbuster most likely paid a bunch of people to counter-act the dislikes on their trailer on YouTube.

Did you realize the first action sequence in the movie was preceded by a resistance pilot prank calling the first order general? If you thought this was funny and belonged in a Star Wars movie, you are not a fan of the OT and need to punched in the face.
The movie felt like a bad parody of a Star Wars movie. Just call it Space Balls 2: The Search for More Money and be done with it.
