I rewatched Shogun about a year ago, totally holds up...like it could be filmed today.

I remember as a kid all the parents of kids at school watching the Thorn Birds like it was the greatest thing on television.

The one mini-series you absolutely can't find to rewatch that I saw on re-run in the 80's on PBS is the BBC mini-series The Search for the Nile. Still my favorite mini-series of all-time.

It's a shame it's been blacklisted by the BBC and pulled from the shelves and locked away in a vault like Disney's Song of the South because the BBC is so PC skittish about showing British Imperialism in Africa.

It’s hard to quantify how big of an event mini-series we’re back in the 70’s and 80’s. It was must see TV. All the kids at my elementary school talked about V.

The North and the South, Winds of War, Masada, Roots, etc.

GoT is probably the only thing that has come close to that type of mania.

No mention of "The Brink"? That was an incredible series.

John Adams should’ve been higher. What a fantastic miniseries.

I’d also have had Lonesome Dove and Roots in my Top 3.

I’m anxious to watch Good Omens to see where it’ll fall on this list.

I remember watching it with my Mom. And enjoyed it. I want to say a few years back they did an extension of that “universe” too that was good.

Ever? You must be kinda young. You have to include:

1. Roots (probably #1 here)
2. V
3. North and South
4. It
5. Shogun

John Adams is probably my number 2. Everything about it was fantastic. I watch it every year.

1. The Pacific

All the rest

I remember the first time watching it and crying like a child at the end. Nothing short of amazing.

As a huge ww2 12yo I was so frustrated this ended before the action started. Talk about a tease.
