New LD history show on HBO. First episode was below average, IMO.
First skit(declaration of independence) was funny, but it was all recycled material.
Second skit(telephone) was ok, but (again) recycled material. Wasn’t any different than any interaction he had with his cousin in Curb.
Third skit (ww1) was ok. Joke about the noises was the best part.
Last skit (Rosa Parks) was far and away the best skit of the show. It was original and funny and clever.
Overall B-
I hope they do better going forward. Hopefully there is some more original content, as opposed to recycling Curb jokes.

I thought the first episode was hilarious

Yeah bit of a let down but the Rosa Parks skit was gold.

WW1 was the weakest one but overall I thought it was a really good show. Definitely felt like an ode to History of the World Part 1.

I only made it about halfway through this first episode, and I give myself credit for that because I'm just one of those people who doesn't think Larry David is funny. I was willing to give it a shot but maybe it's me.

I did not watch the entire 1st episode, stopped during the WW1 ep, but it was because I had somewhere to be
I thought it was just ok. It was kinda typical Larry stuff

The underlying themes are great. Inventing a device that people can speak to each other from long distance and we are worried about the ring tone or carrying on pointless conversation to fill time...
But I think they need to put Larry on the sidelines for some of the bits.
Still enjoyed the episode though

It was ok, hopefully it gets better. I agree about him recycling his jokes, he did that towards the end of Curb with the Nazi German Shepard and other jokes etc.

It's totally him. I love the old mensch trope. I thought the world of Mel Brooks and have held Jack Benny up as one of the funniest men alive.
I just don't get Larry David's talent for taking his personal misery and trying to rebrand it as comedy.

I agree 100%! And it shows us why most of the time it's probably better to stay silent than point these things out.

watched this last night, pretty decent. Has a standard/typical larry david kinda feel to it. I'll definitely be watching the whole series.
Looks like we get a new ep every Friday so will be tuning in tomorrow.

It was an ol start. Got some laughs.
I guess I'm in the minority but I thought the WW1 skit was by far the funniest. Him saying the guys girl back home was "meh" and not wanting to deliver a message to Albuquerque had me laughing.
Agree the Rosa Parks skit was good too though.
