The best Olympic-themed rom-com of all time, with great performances by D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly.

Interesting bit of trivia...Moira Kelly had gotten the part of Kit in A League of Their Own, but could not do it because she injured herself (broken ankle) while making TCE.

My mom loved that movie. And the sequel. Always made the family watch it when both came on.

This was a 90's classic.

Even people who didn't like chick-flicks liked this movie.

My mom and sister absolutely wore that movie out. That and Dirty Dancing. I actually kind of enjoyed both of those the first time. But, after the 10,000th I wanted to kill someone. Back then, we didn't have TVs in every room and all that good shite. Had to huddle around the living room set.

Dirty Dancing tried way too hard to be more serious than it should have been.

I've always liked that movie. Good all around. The casting was perfect for virtually every role esp the leads.

Moira appears to be aging like a fine wine, and very little at that.

Did not know there was a sequel.

There have been three, but the leads have not been in any of them. In fact, they were recast for the second one and the main character is Doug and Kate's daughter.

Although the Pamchenko Twist is physically impossible, it's two components are not. The part of it called the bounce spin (spinning her around in the air by her feet) is a maneuver but is banned from competition as being too dangerous. It does look pretty damn scary. LINK

The other part called the throw twist is pretty common.
