Speaking of the Indominus... why the hell would they let Wu put in cuttlefish DNA to let it camouflage when the whole point of its existence was to wow the spectators? Seems like a huge waste of money if you can’t see it

Well seeing as the Endoraptor was being auctioned off as a weapon. I would just assume that Indominus was practice for the Endoraptor.

Indominus was probably too big and hard to control, but it led Wu and his team to the Endoraptor which was going to be sold off.

Grant used the raptor voice box to confuse them. That’s what drew them away.

Now. How he knew what a raptors call for help sounded like is another thing.

what was the point of the raptor pen? you couldn't see them. they could barely move around.

why even have raptors if you are just going to stick them into that thing?

seriously this thing was smaller than most zoo exhibits

They were Land Cruisers in the book... no expense spared and all that.

How in the hell did the raptor in JP, that was locked in the freezer by Lex, get out? She locked the damn freezer. I get that raptors can open doors, but can they unpin the door from the inside? Freezers like that are basically giant stainless ice chests. There are no ceiling panels for it to jump through or anything.

I think the pen as shown was intended to be temporary.

The freezer raptor was still locked in, the final two raptors were the one that remained in the kitchen and the one that got Ray Arnold in the maintenance shed and chased Ellie (and off screen was able to open the door to get out and go to the Visitors Center).

Why the frick would the door locks to the critically important control room be linked to the power? And even if so, why wouldn’t you have old fashioned dead bolts as backup?

It's not uncommon for places to have solely electronic locks that are completely electro-mechanical with automatic backup generators. Having it all controlled by computer software via a main control room is where the breakdown occurs because it allowed the operation to be vulnerable to Nedry's sabotage.

To be fair, it was just starting up. At the beginning I think it would have only been for the mega-rich, but it would have eventually turned into Jurassic World as we saw.

Yea, I didn’t like this part of the movie. Hammond in the movie is way more likable. In the book he is a business man who is all about the money. In the movie when he says “it’s for everyone to experience” that seems off.

I never saw sequels or read any books, but was it ever explained how the T-rex and other huge dinosaurs were hatched from ostrich eggs? I remember that bothering me when I was a kid and saw it in the theater. Obviously Velocoraptor DNA could be injected into an unfertilized ostrich or emu agg but those giant sauropods we see when the jeep first arrives would probably have laid eggs the size of a Tahoe.

Muldoon was a fricking terrible hunter

Always bugged me. He literally explained EXACTLY how raptors hunt earlier in the film. So he knew their strategy and the raptors did not deviate from it at all. He should've never allowed that to happen.

The real question is what killed the boat’s crew in The Lost World. Originally, the crew were slaughtered by velociraptors. But Spielberg cut this out and left it as is.

As much as I love the JP trilogy, this may bug me the most (well, outside of trying to make T-Rex into King Kong). But there is no reasonable explanation that I've seen as to how T-Rex managed to kill everyone on the boat but still be locked up below deck.

Nah, he was caught (at least partially) by Grant:

It's not more stupid than getting chased by the Spinosaurus, who literally just broke/busted through the heavily enforced park fencing, and closing the door and latching it only to have the Spino not break it down.

In the World movies it's this Scooby Doo shite

Agreed that shite like that is awful. That being said, I still liked the JW movies though. First one was infinitely better than the second one. The second one was enjoyable enough I guess, even despite the shite you mentioned as well as the SJW "They're like me" bullshite.

“Spared no expense.”

Spared no expense, yet it seems like Nedry was the lowest bidder.

He makes the comment of something like "Do you know anybody else that can do X-Y-Z for what I bid for this job?" And Hammond is like "I'm sorry you have problems but they are YOUR problems" or whatever. So if you're "sparing no expense," why go with the (assumedly) lowest bidder for all of your IT and automation services? If anything, that's where you should spend more than normal. Especially in 1993.

This video gives us a possible explanation for the deaths of the crew on the Ventura in the lost world. Best explanation I’ve seen(along with the renderings that weren’t used in the movie).

You’re led to believe that the folks at Jurassic Park still haven’t figured out what to do with the raptors. They probably didn’t realize how dangerous they were until after they reached adulthood. After all, at the beginning of the movie, when they tried to move a raptor into the pen, with 50 armed guards around it, it still managed to kill an employee. Muldoon says “they should all be destroyed.” Hammond probably still wants to keep them. But in all honesty, they are probably not safe to have in the park.

I view Hammond's constant claims of "spared no expense" as him lying to himself to make up for the fact that he very clearly cut a lot of corners to get to where he is w/the park.

Like him overselling it constantly. I can buy into that theory.
