Agree on all of this.

Regarding S5-7 I think we can all agree that it makes for great television even though the writing fell off tremendously. The battle scenes in Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards, and Spoils of War make for excellent TV as well as the drama of Hold the Door and The Winds of Winter. GRRM was such a good writer that there was no way D&D could keep up with the level of writing that was provided for them in seasons 1-4. I appreciate the show for what it is, but admittedly I had to change my expectations for seasons 5-7. They're trying to make up for the lack of story depth by giving us what they can which is great visuals on screen. Props to them for knowing their strengths and weaknesses and playing toward them, but I do really hope GRRM finishes his series (wishful thinking) and someone other than HBO with a bigger budget does a remake 20 years down the road

Hardhome is well done.

The other two poorly plotted and illogical, which destroys the dramatic tension.

Why is Snow atop a writhing pile of bodies?

Because it looks cool.

That’s bad writing. And it’s bad writing because it undermines Snows character. We spend seasons building him up as a clever leader, and then we throw it all away in one episode, where he consistently acts against his nature, making foolish decisions, and where he ultimately destroys his army, and the one thing he’s really grown to love, the Nightswatch.

If you can turn of your head and enjoy the spectacle, power to you. But it’s not good television, especially compared to the early seasons.

Not to mention, having his sister, who has never shown even an iota of bravery and charisma, be the one to save him. The whole “you need to listen to me!!” was so cringe. They used Jon Snow to prop Sansa’s character up.

Is there any show on television that can’t be picked apart?

She went thru a lot of shite, maybe some of that changed her. The scene when she “testifies” in front of Royce to save Littlefinger was pretty badass of her.

I’m not comparing GOT to another show. I’m comparing it to itself, and the standard it set in the first few seasons.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of time travel in any story that isn't about time travel. If it becomes all about time travel, I'll be very disappointed. But, I think it's just GRRM's device for having the characters know things they wouldn't otherwise be able to confirm. It's like the book of family lineages that Ned uses to discover Joffrey's true father. They didn't have DNA tests, so that's the best GRRM could do.

There's only 6 episodes left - a planned, definite end to the story. They don't have to struggle to find new plots and characters, as they would for an open-ended show trying to last as long as it can. Therefore, I hope and am confident that cheap devices will be avoided, for the most part.

She’s been a cringe liar since episode 1, season 1. She just learned how to be a better cringe liar. Doesn’t make her badass and it sure enough doesn’t put her in the prominent position of being the one to save Jon Snow

Neither is anyone else. If you're complaining about shite like Theon's wall jumping ability, you're just a bitch.

Wrong. Season 7 wasn't even average. It was BAD. Walking dead levels bad

Even D&D aren't that lazy. I hope.
That's how the last season of AHS ended and how I fear Attack on Titan is about to end.

I’m a little afraid about how much of a role time travel is going to play. That Hodor reveal is a big one, so you have to think there is going to be more there.

Bran can’t change the past. He sets up a causal loop as shown by the Hodor scene. What’s already happened is written in stone even if future Bran is the one who caused it. I’ve posted this theory before but I think Bran somehow wargs into the pre white walker night king in an attempt to prevent all the death and destruction and ends up becoming the night king instead.

It fits with Ragnarok lore in the sense that there is a never ending time loop in which Bran becomes the Night King, who thousands of years later is presumably destroyed by Jon Snow or whomever, at which point Bran wargs back in time setting up the whole loop again. Time can still proceed linearly outside of the loop, but Bran will always be caught in that eternal cycle. Basically Rust Cohle would be right.

There are a lot of parallels between present, future, and past events in the books to the point where the lines between them are pretty blurred which kind of supports this idea.

And I think it would be amazing if that’s how it played out. It means the story never really ended and the song of ice and fire is never truly over. The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed.

SFP is an argument troll. You have to be firm with him.

If the resolution to this story is anything close to "because, time loops" you and your main account should be banned.

God, that would suck.

Why? I didn’t write it

And if you don’t like static time theory I can’t help you. The chapters where Bran is experiencing past and present as one tangent moment in time are the shite.

And admittedly I felt gay writing that last part so point for you there. One of the few things I really nerd out for though .

I wouldn’t lump S6 in with S5 and S7. S6 was solid from start to finish, even in the “filler” episodes. IMO, S7 was enjoyable, but felt rushed due to having three less episodes than each of the prior seasons. I think S7 would’ve been more cohesive if they would’ve made 10 episodes to hash out the plot lines.
