re: Legendary movies that didn’t live up to the hype

The correct answer is Annie Hall. Greatest comedy of all time and one of the greatest movies ever? Please. I’ll also say this for Woody Allen’s entire filmography. He’s been nominated for Best Original Screenplay more than twice the time of his next contender. Absolutely ridiculous. Woody Allen could sign his name on a literal pile of dog shite and get nominated for that award at this point.

Birdman. I get it, and it’s cool enough, but come on, man.

Birdman might've won awards but it's in no way a legendary movie.

Boyhood was bad. Just a unique concept

Annie Hall — the only movie me and my wife walked out of in the middle.
Taxi Driver — don’t understand the fuss
Casablanca — boring and unrelatable (if you want Bogart, try The African Queen or The Petrified Forest)
Citizen Kane — see Casablanca
Psycho — stupid and not scary
Chinatown — love Jack but this didn’t grab me
(By the way, I am a not at all a fan of film noir — dislike the over-acting and directing style of that era.)

. Another movie I’ll throw out there is Deadpool
Wrong. Either you saw the TV version, or kept getting up to go to the bathroom or something, because that is a straight up awesome flick. ( For its genre. ) It’s the first movie I bought in over 10 years because I just had stopped buying movies.
Maybe you weren’t paying attention close enough, and missed a lot of the subtle gags and references. But Deadpool absolutely is one of the finest movies I’ve seen the last 10 years.

It didn’t live up to the hype for you but did for everyone else. Maybe you didn’t realize what you were getting with Deadpool. Because everyone else that didn’t like it, probably weren’t hyped up for it in the first place.
I only had a vague idea of what to expect. I didn’t read the comics and I really only knew of him and his antics from what others had said about him. The first iteration of him in the Wolverine origins movie

16 year old Jennifer Connelly ( who was still age appropriate for me at the time ) and David Bowie.
That’s all I really remember about the movie though. Looking back I guess it’s kind of creepy in some areas - probably not PC appropriate.

The Dark Knight. Listed #4 on the IMDB Top 250.
I thought it was good overall. But, that's it. Just good. I never thought about it again probably until now.

Question, why all the downvotes? Was it the opinions of the movies? Did the Deadpool comment ruin it? Was it a dumb post? Or was it just a downvoteable post?

Blade runner remake.

I tried to watch this and turned it off at about 20 minutes. I guess I just didn't get it.

Raging Bull and Taxi Driver are difficult to watch for the first time “today”. At the time of release, both included new Movie making techniques and method actors. As a result, they received high praise for their ingenuity, creativity and performances. If you watch one of those for the first time today, you do so after watching hundreds or thousands of films that used these same techniques, but only after they were perfected. It’s like watching Andre Ware and the Houston Cougars run and shoot for the first time today, after having watched countless teams execute the spread offense for the last 5-7 years. You will rate Houston last in terms of execution, route concepts , effectiveness as compared to any 2019 spread team. The reality is at the time they played, they were the originators Of a brand new offensive concept and style that would revolutionize football.
Casablanca , well you are communist if you don’t like that one.

One of the dumbest movies I have ever seen.
This is a very complicated movie.
You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.
