I think you’re reading too far into the lecture at the beginning. It’s just exposition to set the stage for the show. And even that is just some PhD talking about what keeps them up at night. You can probably find any number of real-world TED Talks about various doomsday scenarios, most of which will (hopefully) never become reality.
As for the speed of the outbreak.. sure, it’s a stretch. The idea is that the fungus mutated and became capable of infecting humans, and basically that it would have killed us off a long time ago otherwise. The flour at the factory in Indonesia gets contaminated and once it starts popping up in other countries, there’s no containing it.
But.. again, I wouldn’t overthink it.

2nd game was very large. There were major jumps in time when Ellie travels. I am hoping they wrap it up in 3.

Casting Kaitlyn Dever as Abby will help. I think she’ll be much more likable than Abby in the game. Especially since Bella Ramsey is decidedly less likable than Ellie in the games.
Also it seems that they aren’t going to do things in the exact same order as the game. I’m assuming it’ll be more linear. Or maybe it’ll be split up into chunks? Ironically, though, I think the formula from the game would actually work better on TV (as you said). But I think it would be pretty risky to double down on that after all of the backlash from players IMO.. especially if they can’t fit it all in one season.

I really doubt it. We had the bill episode and ellie background episode in s1. In s2 we will probably just have the ellie ship but no hour long love story spinoff episodes.
Abby is straight, n dever isn't swole so we won't have that whole drama that we had wit gamers after the trailers

Hopefully you’re right, I just remember really not digging the intro to the second game and part of it was due to the lesbian stuff that just seemed kind of forced to me. Granted, there was another reason that probably upset me more, but it wasn’t bad storytelling per se, and it is a gigantic spoiler, so I’ll leave it off this point

As someone who is totally clueless how this works but how long was the game? I never played it (even though I had it on my PS4), so does it go at it's on pace or can you speed play?

Not saying I disagree with you but I know I saw online backlash. The reality is the game sold really well and won some game of the year awards. They will probably tackle some stuff differently to "fix" certain issues but I'm sure they'll stay faithful since they'll follow the actual numbers aka $$$. Could be wrong though!

I beat it when it was first released. I think it might have taken me like 35 hours but I was pretty thorough. It's long and it feels even longer because of how gloomy and dark the story is.

You’re right that they won a bunch of awards, and I personally didn’t hate the “twist” as much as a lot of people apparently did. To me, whatever feelings I had about it were overshadowed by how fricking fun the game was to play, especially getting new mechanics at the halfway point.
But I think it’s a bit of a moot point - there are some things shown in the trailer that only make sense if either they changed the format, or they fit way more than half of Part 2 into this season. I thought they had already said Part 2 was going to be split into 2 seasons but I could be wrong.

Honestly this might hit 300 just with 2 or 3 posters screaming at the sky. One of which doesn't even watch the shows he's screaming about.
