At this point, I feel bad for any director/producer that doesn’t have a Star Wars project planned.

Hollywood Reporter

quote:

Some see this move as a prelude to a larger role for Feige within Lucasfilm, while others say it merely reflects the Marvel executive’s passion for the franchise. A top Disney source says Kennedy remains in charge with no plans for any changes. One knowledgeable source says Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play if and when he makes the movie.

quote:

Skywalker, otherwise known as Episode IX, is meant to be the final installment of the series that was first launched by George Lucas in 1977. It is also meant to win back fans after the last sequel trilogy entry, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, divided audiences, even though reviews were largely positive and the film grossed $1.3 billion worldwide.

I personally can’t wait for James Cameron’s trilogy about Alderaan, Vince Gilligan’s story about Mos Eisley, and the Farrelly Bros. trilogy Gungan mishaps.

Feige is a huge SW nerd. Probably more so than Marvel. This can’t be a bad thing. A better thing would be for him to take KKs job and pass Marvel on to someone else. He’s done something remarkable at Marvel and if he can bring that kind of vision to SW it would really be something.

Seems like there’s a whole lot of Star Wars in the works.

Have they given up on the “Star Wars fatigue” narrative that was supposedly the cause of Solo’s poor performance?

It's all going to fail one day. One day there wont be quarter billion dollar budget movies.

What companies like A24 can do with a small budget shows what hiring the right directors and giving them freedom can do.

just so I understand correctly, we now have the following planned SW movies:

1. Ryan Johnson Trilogy
2. D&D Trilogy
3. Feige movie

I have a sneaking suspicion that while Kathleen Kennedy will remain atop the food chain at Lucas Film, her days as a creative decision maker are just about over. She never was a creative force during her years as a Hollywood producer. She was the work horse who made sure things remained on time and on budget, and who also made sure Spielberg and co. always had what they needed, when they needed it.

Kevin Feige, the creative force behind the MCU, coming in and developing a new Star Wars movie tells me that Disney is looking for a new creative head for Lucas Film and that they might have just found one. They will keep Kathleen Kennedy in charge but I highly doubt she will be allowed to come up with story ideas from here on out.

seriously doubt that will ever happen. If i had to guess they will announce that it isnt happening some time in 1st quarter of next year, after the mandolorian and Rise of Skywalker are over and done. Will probably use the "scheduling conflict" excuse or something similar.

D & D signed a deal with Netflix so I don’t think they’ll be doing Star Wars anytime soon.

I do want to Zack Snyder’s Seven Samurai style idea come to fruition, especially if one of the seven is a young Yoda, as was rumored.

Nope.

Bob Iger Article NYT

As recently as a week ago Bob Iger said it.

quote:

He agrees that with “Star Wars,” “I just think that we might’ve put a little bit too much in the marketplace too fast.”

Also, nauseating from the article:

quote:

I note that even though Disney has broken gender and race ground with movies like “Captain Marvel” and “Black Panther,” the top executives at the four quadrants of the company (TV, film, parks and consumer products, and streaming and international) are all white men.

“You have to look one level down, because we’ve done a lot,” Mr. Iger says. He concedes that it’s a disappointment that those who directly report to him “are lacking” in diversity and vows, “I’ll change that before I leave.”

I wonder if there will ever be a female director for “Star Wars.” He says that Kathleen Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm, is “trying really hard’’ to make that happen.

Diversity for Diversity's sake. No worry about quality. They are going to shoe horn as much diversity in as possible.
