Overblown. There's a lot of good movies being made. People need to realize movies don't have the impact they once did. Kids nowadays care about streamers and video games. Movies are way down the list.

Not sure you can have those two sentences together in your argument. You say movies are still good, but also say don't expect movies to be good. A movies impact definitely affects how you enjoy or appreciate a movie. Usually impactful movies are the best movies.

I thought you meant impact on the viewer as they watched the movie and how the movie affected them.

You mean impact as in people online talking about it?

When you say people need to realize that movies don't have the same impact they once did just tells me they just aren't as good anymore.

I think she’s doing ok.

I’d guess they help each other out like Vince and Johnny on Entourage.

What I mean is society doesn't value movies as it once did. It used to be a big part of our culture. Theaters are barely hanging on now. I have two kids... them and their group of friends couldn’t care less about going to the movies. It's so different from when I was growing up.

I think it just takes a good product to create the value though. Online hype certainly doesn't hurt either.

But movies these days seem to be designated for failure or success before they're even released anymore by the internet.

Very true. And I still really like going to the movies to see a good movie... But we all know with the inflated prices, movies going straight to streaming, and homes with 75 inch tv and surround sound is killing theaters.

The strikes were a political statement and did absolutely nothing to help quality

Every American made pushes some form of LBGT message. Trying to force feed us their agenda. No one likes anything pushed upon them.

Weapons and Sinners are 2 of the best movies this year, and they made bank.

It’s pathetic how the standards have fallen so much that people are willing to consider these 2 films “the best of the year”.

“Weapons” is very over-the-top, inconsistent in tone, and has terrible dialogue. It’s nothing more than your typical Hollywood horror film with all of the tropes that come along with it.

“Sinners” is nothing special and an easily forgettable film.

It’s why when someone makes some good indie films and a successful blockbuster they suddenly hand that person the reins to another blockbuster despite no evidence of continued success

Passion projects with little to no corporate control are a relic of the past now. Gone are the days when directors made movies with their own “vision” and had been dreaming about making it ever since they were young.

People like to hate on old-school Jewish filmmakers because many of them have been associated with sex-scandal cases in Hollywood, but the truth is that all of them loved their craft and dedicated their entire lives to making original, enjoyable stories that people would want to watch over and over again.

Anytime you saw “Miramax” or “Weinstein Films” show up in the beginning of a movie, you knew it was going to be a damn good movie.

I get what you're saying, but Hollywood is in the business of making profit and it's not their fault audiences don't show up to those types of films. All the big moneymaker this year are comic book films, sequels, or known IPs like Minecraft. Audiences just like dumb shite. We can't just put all the blame on studios.

There used to be a long gap between theater release and home streaming but that isnt the case anymore.

This always gets me. I remember seeing films on cable and I always think back to that being the year they were released but now I will see that a movie was released in such and such year and am always surprised because it will be 1-3 years before I thought it was released. Hurts my bar trivia game.

It doesn’t really have much to do with audiences’ taste in movies although I do agree that the younger generations are dumb as hell when it comes to analyzing movies. Superhero films have a much easier time reaching an international audience compared to a comedy film or drama film and that’s exactly what the corporations (Amazon, Disney, Netflix) want: as much profit as possible. It definitely doesn’t help that foreign investors from countries like China are pouring money into American film companies.

There is that, but also seems to be a lot more money in shows now as opposed to
movies. People don’t have time to watch a two hour movie, but will binge watch three seasons of a show. Lol

Watching modern movies is depressing. They really have to be graded on a curve compared to movies from the 90s and 00s. There was a very noticeable drop off in quality around 2013-2015.

Even the occasional really good film nowadays usually has a b movie vibe to it that it just manages to overcome. The movies that they actually invest in are completely soulless.

Even worse is that they queer code movies for kids. Full on grooming them & they expect the public to just fall in line.

To be honest I only clicked on the video to see what she currently looked like. I couldn’t give a shite what she thinks about anything.
