I got about 20 minutes into this movie before I couldn't stand to watch it anymore. I was rooting for the old rich guy in the beginning, though I am told my allegiance would have changed by movie end. The Dude annoyed the hell out of me, though, and I had to stop watching.

I don't understand how anyone could dislike this movie. Its incredible. "There's a beverage here man!"

On SportsCenter's top 10, a lot of times Neil Everett, when he it gets to play 8, will drop a "Mark it 8 dude."
Probably my favorite scene in the movie.
That, or, the "ringer" scene.

The best part? It never gets old. I've seen that movie more than any other by far.

Usually these threads start off with the guy saying it sucked, but glad to hear you enjoyed it. I was one of those people as well, but I was just too invested in the mystery to see what was really going on. The story literally resolves itself before the heroes catch onto it, which is really comedic genius that is rarely done. If Seinfeld is the show about Nothing, then The Big Lebowski is the film about Nothing. I think you need to get that either consciously or subconsciously to really appreciate it.

I just didn't get it. Was kind of disappointed.
Read my explanation. The entire film is about pointlessness. The Dude starts his crusade just by someone peeing on his fricking rug and they have the wrong guy. All the dude really needed to do was scrub it to wash the stain out, but he's too damn lazy to even think of doing so and goes way out of his way to get a new one.
Walter is obsessed with pointless bullshite, such as a pointless war, a pointless former marriage, and a completely pointless religion for him from everyone else's perspective. Anything that actually has a point he dismisses blindly.
Maude is obsessed with bullshite that means nothing in the end. Mr. Lebowski is a mere shell of a man who is worth nothing really. The Nihilists believe in nothing and are lying their asses off the entire film about something they don't really have. Once you stop worrying about the details and realize what it is, its a brilliant comedy.

I completely forgot this scene.

Goodman is masterful in this movie, and, especially this scene, IMO.

I think you've surpassed even iPodking (no offense since you're a nice guy) and TulaneLSU as having the worst taste in film on the board. Congrats.

My cousin calls it the "perfect" comedy. The more I have seen it the more I tend to agree with him.
Every character is so flawless and seamless with the story, I love it

This is one of those movies that I can watch over and over and its still funny. It has unbelievable acting for being such a cult film if you can call it that.

It is a perfect comedy. Anyone who has ever tried to point out flaws in the film just clearly doesn't get it.

HA! Seen it a dozen times and still laughed watching the clip... the squeaking noises the ferret was making and the Dude squealing and splashing around...
