This movie might be the worst modern Western I've seen. I had high hopes because I love Waltz and Dafoe but it is bad bad.

Silverado.

A lot of good ones mentioned so far, I would add Silverado to the list. It is one of my all time favorite westerns.

Little Big Man-One of the best comedy Western's ever.

Great movie with a good cast. It's been streaming on one of the channels I have and I watched it a couple nights ago. Hoffman is great as he morphs into his many characters he takes on as he makes his way in the west.

Richard Mulligan is funny as hell playing an overly pompous George Custer and Chief Dan George who plays Old Lodge Skins, an elder of the Indian tribe that takes Jack Crabb under his guidance acts as a father figure for the orphaned Crabb.

Well worth the watch.

Shane is such a perfect movie.

Shane - “I’ve heard about you”

Wilson - “What have you heard Shane?”

Shane - “I’ve heard you’re a low down yankee liar”

Wilson - “Prove it.”

Gives me chills!

I feel like well done modern westerns are somehow an untapped market in film. The audience is definitely there, and the subject material and stories are there. The set locations are plentiful and seemingly very budget friendly. Seems it'd be an attractive offer for good talent. Yet we don't see all that many being produced.

That’s what Costner thought too. I doubt we will ever see Horizon 2-4.

I think he went too big. A simple modern western is enjoyable enough, it doesn't need to be an epic.

Guess I'm the odd man out on this one. I found it SLOW and boring to watch and had to force myself to finish it just to see if it got better.

It didn't.

The Proposition - Guy Pearce
A lawman apprehends a notorious outlaw and gives him nine days to kill his older brother, or else they'll execute his younger brother.

IMDB shows its streaming on Prime?
