Every time I see The Hurt Locker, Jarhead, Blackhawk Down, We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, etc. I have to watch. It will be no different for Zero Dark Thirty. I saw it in theaters and I can't wait to see it on my new TV ASAP.

Like someone said earlier, they just did a great job materializing the tension in the film even though we already knew the outcome. And let's give credit to casting. Coach Taylor and Tony Soprano are in the movie, and those actors are generally well-liked because of their previous roles. Having them in ZD30 is icing on the cake

I'm the same way. SPV is one of those movies I can watch at anytime. I feel like I have to watch it.

Great movie. Better than Argo? Maybe technically, but Argo had way more soul. I cared about Mendez in Argo. I only cared about Chastains character insofar as I wanted her to catch Bin Laden. I had no interest in her personally. That's not to say I didn't like her or that Chastain dida bad job, just that they didn't feel the need to delve into her character more than they did.

Picked it up at RedBox last night and was very pleased. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm glad Argo won, because I like Ben Affleck, but ZD30 was every bit as good as Argo, if not better.

Both are very entertaining movies.

I liked ZD30 better than Argo, but enjoyed Argo very much. My wife was the opposite. Matter of opinion. I just felt the tension of ZD30 was better drawn out and moments in Argo felt a little bit too much embellished for a true story.

Spoiler alert!!!!

As far as Argo goes, did Iranian trucks really almost catch up to the plane on the runway as it was taking off? I highly doubt this. Entertaining, but also a bit unrealistic.

No. This has been discussed many times on here. Every time it is, people get all pissy about how they misrepresented history to which I laugh at. Hardily. The last several minutes of the film, up to and including the chase, are pretty intense. Just because they fudged the exact detail there doesn't make it any worse than ZDT , as someone will inevitably argue. ZDT is also filled with historical inaccuracies to make it a better movie.

It was a well done movie, but damn I was bored throughout the entire movie. Even the raid at the end was boring. How do you manage to make a gun fight boring?

ETA: Gimme Argo over ZD30 every time.

Interesting POV you got there...pretty much the opposite of how I felt about it.

Really gave a great sense of the drawn out beaurocratic horsesh#t without the movie itsself being drawn out-even though it was long and had virtually no score.

I remember a couple months before this went down some d-bag almost blowing it talking about "how out in the open UBL was living". He must have got muzzled quick, I don't remember hearing snother peep from him, but ZD30 made it clear how the timeline could've made for another missed chance.

Curious if the military was cooperative, those helos looked pretty detailed. Also glad that this wasn't a pom pom movie for either POTUS involved, if anything it was an indictment of the politics.

The last scene, on a grander scale reminded me of the last scene of Micheal Clayton when, after going through hell & back he hands the cabbie a twenty and says "just drive".

I finally watched it last night and thought it was just as great as everyone said. The thing I loved most was the interactions between the Agency people, the SEALs and the contractors working along side them. Those relationships were spot on, like how they are very candid with each other and kind of respect each others boundaries etc. but still really care and respect everyone else and their respective jobs for the most part. Egos don't play as big of a factor as some may think. To me the most boring part was the raid and that was still pretty great. I loved the whole CIA investigative build up in the first 2 hours though. And I actually liked Chastain. I was a bigger fan of Jason Clarke's role but I still had some compassion for Chastain and it feels like most people are kind of knocking her performance.

SPOILER: and who couldn't see that suicide bomb coming at that "Meet the Al Qaida doctor in Afghanistan" part? That was almost like 3 minutes of unnecessary build up, but that's my only knock.

I give it 5 Oprah titties.

Well anyone who even remotely has followed the war knew it was coming. The attack at Khost was pretty devastating.

"Fudged" is a very, very soft word when it comes to the final 30 minutes of Argo. The actual exit out of Iran was as routine as any ordinary airline passenger in those days. The entire film was filled to the brim with historical inaccuracies to make the whole ordeal seem more intense than it really was. The actual Americans did not fear for their lives. The biggest enemy they faced was boredom.

The only thing that makes this story halfway interesting is how the CIA invented a cover story just in case they needed one to smuggle the Americans out of Iran. As it turned out…they never needed it because none of the Iranians ever asked any questions.

The only scene in the film that was actually close to historical reality was the opening scene where the Iranian students stormed the embassy.

Just watched it. I thought it was a damn good movie. Def a great watch.

And it was pretty accurate too. I read the esquire article with the guy who killed Osama and I was very close. The only differences were they weren't screaming everytime one of them set a charge, and the actual killing of Osama. He was standing in the room with a women in front of him as a shield. And some other small minor details.

If you haven't read that esquire article about it I recommend it. Really awesome. LINK

Didnt like it. Best part was first part dominated by the male interrogator.

The female lead I found annoying And thought she painfully over acted scenes.

The final assault on the compound was a yawn.

The relationships and squabbles between the CIA analysts and each other and their superiors seemed artificially inserted to force some sort of conflict.

Again, Enjoyed first part of movie But it's all downhill after that
