I know Planes, Trains, & Automobiles is a buddy comedy, but if you told me John Candy won a supporting role Oscar for his portrayal of Del Griffith I would believe you.

Big John Candy fan. I think his best work was yet to come.
Died way too soon.

I feel like this will be too depressing.
i haven’t seen a single negative thing said about him. He just seemed like a genuinely kind person.

Glad i was around to see him in his prime. Him and Robin Williams are probably the two best comedians in my lifetime that made some great movies.

I teared up. Was a huge John Candy fan growing up.

I need to sit down and watch a few Candy movies this weekend.

Colin Hanks
Has carved out a rock-solid niche as a fantastic pop culture documentarian. His movie about Tower Records is absolutely better than it has any right to be, and the one about the Eagles of Death Metal is excellent.
Big John Candy fan, but Hanks is a stud in his own right.

I was born in 78, so Candy was right there in my HBO binging youth. Uncle Buck, PT&A, Summer Rental, Great Outdoors, Spaceballs, Who's Harry Crumb... So much goodness.

Everything I’ve read about him is that he was genuinely nice guy that everyone who worked with him adored.
In an interview with Steve Martin you can see Steve start to break down as he talks about him.

If they had included his full monologue from the end of the movie, Candy probably would’ve been nominated and could’ve won. It was that powerful according to Steve Martin.

Everyone loved him.
And sadly, he thought nobody did. Roger Ebert told the story of finding him in a bar drinking alone during the filming of Trains, Planes and Automobiles.

Will definitely be watching this.

I liked him growing up, but as I got older I realized how talented and loving he was and that hit me different. I can't wait to watch this but the trailer already concerns me

Gonna watch this with my wife. Uncle Buck is an annual tradition.

I remember being in school when heading John candy died and it really bothered me like i lost someone i knew. He just seemed like a great guy. But really he reminded me of my uncle. Who we called Uncle Buck. Who was very similar in looks and drove an old beat up 70s plymouth convertible.

John Hughes ended two of his movies (Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles) the same way--a freeze frame on John Candy's face. He knew what he had there.
This Uncle Buck ending looks like he's waving goodbye to us all.
