Jeremy Clarkson was so intent on taking over a local pub that he offered the owner almost £1 million for it within minutes of meeting her, MailOnline can reveal.
The Windmill is set in five acres of Cotswold countryside with stunning views across the Windrush Valley - and is just ten miles from the TV star’s famous Diddly Squat Farm base.

I would watch many a season of Jeremy and his girlfriend running a bar.
This would be a great place to sell his farm raised beef and veggies. The City Counsel is bound and determined to shut down his outlet to sell his goods.
Also, he doesn’t need a profit from the food side just yet if he can make another show out of it.
Clarkson is running these businesses to highlight how much government regulations are hurting small business people in England.

Hoping to make it out to the Cotswolds next year. Don’t care how long the line is at diddly squat

Lucky enough to backpack through there in my youth. Most idyllic place I've ever traveled through. Running a Pub there would be the good life. I could see why he'd immediately offer a million.

I feel like I’ve offered $1M to several bar owners after a few too many whiskeys

I like how this is written in the exact same cadence as the Dr Evil bit where they laugh at how low 1 million is relative to the current day, which at the time was like 2000
Maybe I’ve been looking in big city real estate but a brewery + all that farmland/acre she got, 1 mil sounds like an underpay

I would genuinly book a vacation to England just to go to the Cotswalds and Clarksonland if he opens up a pub near his farm.
Thats the kind of power and $$ he knows he has if he can make a deal. He's basically sitting on a theme park there and it would bring untold millions to the local tourism there.
Which means I'm sure many of the 'get off my lawn' local crowd hates.

It was probably Amazon's money anyway, so good for all involved

From reading the article, the pub really needed some work/care/money. So Clarkson is actually helping the owner, who is not at a good age to do what is necessary to fix up the place , or the kind of cash that Clarkson can spend.
The other local businesses are excited, no doubt about those tourists/fans.
Must be far enough away that the issues he has had with the village elders wont come into play. Outside their territory.
It will be Amazon's money cause....there will be a spin-off from Clarkson's Farm...

Yes living in towns with endless strip malls and endless shootings is soooo much better

If you're extremely introverted (or old), it seems like it could work.
Any sort of extroversion would be living in hell in a place like that.
I'm the last person to use the "nothing to do" line, but there literally looks like there is nothing to do there (other than the pub).
That also 100% looks like a place where the local town counsel would kill you in secret for the greater good.

It's pretty commutable to London.
I have a few colleagues with 2nd homes there.

Did he ever work out his differences with Amazon? Amazon would be crazy to actually part ways with him.

Amazon has supposedly green lit a 4th season of the farm show.
Grand Tour appears to be dead. Likely much too big of a budget and the blokes are just too old to keep going on those treks.
I'm sure world security is also a major issue now.
