They fired her sister on Scream (Sam). Apparently she kept tweeting pro Palestinian quips.

From what I read, the straw that broke the camels back was a post about Jews controlling Hollywood stereotype. I can see how it’s in bad taste, but they pretty much reinforced the stereotype by firing her from Hollywood

Yeah and Jenna is too, considering they moved their laser focused on the two sisters now especially after fricking over Neve in Scream 6 I can’t imagine what they’ll do now. No Sydney and no Carpenter sisters just leaves Gale and the twins

They've certainly painted themselves into a corner. Scream 5 was meant to introduce new leads to the franchise while Scream VI was supposed to cement them as the next generation. With the two leads departing the franchise (one against her will) after two very successful movies, they're definitely going to have to course correct. Either you re-cast Sam and Tara or restore Neve Campbell as the face of the franchise. Though I don't know if audiences will care to watch a 50-year-old Sidney Prescott and 60-year-old Gale Weathers fighting teenagers dressed in Ghostface costumes.

Here's a fix, re-hire Kevin Williamson, have him use his original idea for scream 3 and bring stu back as the mastermind behind copycat ghostfaces across the world. Have the internet be the soundboard and have Stu be the mastermind. It all goes back to Sydney and Gale finally gets done in. Bring back the line "I always had a thing for ya Syd!"

Something is not quite right for sure. It sounds like it could have breakdowns in negotiations because this article from Variety states Barrera and Ortega were only signed on for 2 movies.
