Don't even care - I'd still watch.

Rush Hour is easily the best or top 3 'buddy cop' franchises up there with Lethal Weapon and Bad Boys.

Can Jackie even kick anymore? He's pushing 70. Rush Hour 4 set in a nursing home would be pretty badass.

Would rather have another Shanghai movie. RH3 was pure trash.

I know its probably not true but it always seemed like if there wasn't a Rush Hour movie out in the theaters, you'd never see Chris Tucker. I can't think of another actor so hitched and dependant on one franchise.

When's the last time he did a Friday movie?

The first one? Back in 1995?

Beverly Hills Cop doesn't feel much like a "buddy cop" movie though.

He's only been in 3 projects since Rush Hour 3:
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk* (2016)
Tito Jackson: Love One Another (2021)

The last one is just a music video.

* - This movie may have the greatest WTF casting I've ever seen.

From 1998 - 2007 the Rush Hour movies are the only movies he appeared in.

The reason for not appearing in the other Friday movies, per Wikipedia:

quote:

Tucker did not reprise his role as Smokey in Next Friday (2000) or Friday After Next (2002) for religious reasons, later explaining that he didn't want to encourage others to smoke weed

Here's the reason he gave for why he stopped acting in general (and FYI, Rush Hour 3 was a 6 year project that he was contractually tied to)

quote:

I started as a stand-up and then the movie career took off so fast, I kind of put it on the back burner. But it’s on the front burner again. It’s a priority. I never stopped doing it; I just didn’t focus on it so much. But it is something you have to work at. I have way more life experiences than I did when I was a teenager. I have a lot more material. I think I’m a whole other person than when I was a kid doing ‘Def Comedy Jam.’… I love making movies, but I have been working doing my stand-up. I’m working one way or the other.
