Their certainly theme is extremely similar. The biggest difference is that in home alone the parents are just then discovering they are shitty parents. Where as in die hard they are fighting to make things right.
In the end of home alone they aren't even that pumped to see him. "It's cool you didn't burn the place down" I am just going to up stairs and continue to be spoiled brat. None of the family changes for the better in home alone. I bet they grounded him for busting up buzz's room. Not to mention They go right back to losing him next Christmas

All you need to know is that the whole "die hard is a Christmas movie" movement was started by atheists.
Enjoy mocking Jesus on his birthday.
Yeah, those pesky atheists. And if Jesus did exist he wasn't born in fricking December but I digress. Continue with your paranoia.

I did not know this, you just got yourself a convert.
So it turns out that this is not a Christmas movie in any way, shape or form. To suggest that it is, is to display your ignorance of both Christmas and film. It's narrow minded at best and intentionally obtuse at its worst. People spouting this bullshite should take a long look in the mirror and think why they hold on to suck hateful beliefs.

Exactly...It is a Christmas movie. How can you have Ho-Ho-Ho written on a terrorist's sweatshirt and it not be a Christmas movie?

It's just not Christmas until I see Professor Snape fall off of Nakatomi Plaza.

It's Christmas, Theo. It's the season of miracles.
