Is the traditional romantic comedy a thing of the past?

I'll preface this by saying I don't get to watch nearly as many movies as I used to so maybe I'm just unaware.
The wife and I were browsing netflix last night and came across Two Weeks Notice. She's a Bullock fan but had never seen this, so we gave it a go. I had seen it years ago, and even though it was predictable and Hugh Grant was just Hugh Grant (sickenly charming with his typcial dry British wit), it was fun, charming, and relatively clean, which my wife appreciated. She commented that they just don't make these kind of movies anymore. Even what is advertised as a romantic comedy seems to still devolve into Super Bad but with more adults. Shock and awe has taken over movies in general.
Old man rant, I'm sure. But are they still making movies like this anymore? I've always had a thing for Sandra Bullock and thought Meg Ryan was ok for a time. Granted, most of the time I forced to watch a lot of these because of who I was dating, but a lot of them are just fun. While You Were Sleeping was a favorite of my mom.
If they are still out there, any recommendations? I'm sure my wife would love to see them.

Hugh Grant got old and they couldn't find a replacement so the Rom/Com died.

On a side note, watching that last night reminded me of Grant's "About a Boy", which I absolutely loved. I guess he's still the same but more of an a-hole.

Definitely this. Blame it on the groups that think you have to be vulgar to be funny or that a movie needs nudity to draw a following.

I watched Crazy Rich Asians last night. I would consider that a romantic comedy.

That awkward moment...is probably the last rom com I watched. I liked it. Maybe it isn't traditional though but I just think that's how it is nowadays. More realistic?

Maybe "traditional" isn't the right word. Maybe just clean, not raunch.

I wonder if it is due to the emphasis they try to promote alternative lifestyles. Traditional rom coms involved hetero couples. Is Hollywood staying away from them because they don’t want to stick with hetero couples but also realize that a film based on LGBTQ lifestyle will just not make money?

A romantic comedy that has witty writing, is cute, good chemistry between stars, and doesn't count on raunchy scenes to get viewers pulse beating, is the movie I'd prefer watching. I personslly don't like scary movies that use cheap-jump-scare-tactics, or romantic comedys that use cheap-raunchy-tactics. They're the same, covering for lack of imagination.
Sometimes a raunchy scene can work but today's stuff over does it throughout movie....
