I don’t care. Matt Damon was already enough to make me lose interest.

SIAP but this Reddit theory that Page is playing Elpenor seems more likely than Page playing Achilles:
Elliot Page plays Elpanor in The Odyssey

Elliot Page plays Elpanor in The Odyssey
quote:
Elpanor is the youngest member of the Odysseus's ship crew who dies an insignificant death on Circe's Island After falling off a roof while drunk and left unburied.
Odysseus feels unbothered by his death as he wants to get home . When Odysseus reaches Hades (The Underworld), Elpanor is the first person he sees in the Underworld coming out of the ground.
This is emotionally most significant to Odysseus as it comes as a moral/personal shock to Odysseus as his crew is more important to him than his own glory, fighting monsters and gods. it shocks Odysseus because Elpanor begs him not to leave him unburied on Circe's Island.
At end of Hades , he goes back and buries the ship mate he thought as unimportant.
Note: Ryan de Quintal posted a photo of the Odysseus crew shipmates in a rememberance of last year for his birthday . Elliot Page is sitting at the end of the table.

Every time I see him in this trailer I think of him quoting Kasmir to Matsui in Oceans 12.

if that's the case, then this scene makes the most sense then...

I'm not allowed to see this movie. This guy has repeatedly told me I'm not welcome to pay for his films.

Odysseus performs a blood ritual in the underworld where he meets his mother, Achilles, Ajax, Agamemnon, and others. He must seek Tiresias to receive a prophecy in order to return home.
Achilles delivers one of the most hard hitting lines of either work during this encounter. She is very likely playing Achilles in this scene and it’s absolutely retarded that is happening.
And the more I hear about this movie and see it’s 250 million+ budget- I’m beginning to believe this one doesn’t return a profit
Also I may be in the minority here- but when doing an adaptation of classical material, it helps to not use modern American accents. There is a reason a classic British accent is used so often for material like this- it just works. The modern American accents and vernacular, the Asian, sub-Saharan, Indian, and Latino faces, and from what I’ve read possibly even trap music- will take anyone who actually enjoys being immersed into a late Bronze Age era completely out of it. I’m really bummed about this one. I love the work and Nolan. I’ve read or listened to multiple translations of it, outside of one in particular (the one Nolan allegedly leaned on) they all bring something different and special to the experience.
Maybe he will make a movie about the Zulu wars and cast Brad Pitt to play the Zulu king next.
