He is pretty good at his craft, but most movie goers don't know about his acclaimed portfolio.
I think the whole Scientology backlash has improved his roles to some extent. He doesn't play the handsome Jerry McGuire, top gun leading man roles that much anymore it seems. Tropic thunder was what really changed my opinion on him.
Watch Magnolia (1999).

I'm impressed that you admitted this. I did the same exact thing and felt dumb.

I do not have a problem with musicals...I have seen a few on Broadway and enjoyed them....I also have enjoyed musical movies...
So I am not pre-judging this movie b/c it is a musical
I am only going off what I have seen on the previews, which look very very bad
I like Alec Baldwin...Tom Cruise is a great actor...but the trailers of them singing makes me cringe...
I just cannot bring myself to see this one....The rest of the cast is pretty meh IMO as well...do not like Russel Brand....Annoying chick from Glee...No talent Hough (although super hot)
Nothing is appealing about this one

I saw the broadway show and it was great. Movie cast, however, does not inspire me.

Tom Cruise deserves more credit for his acting skills.

Yeah, I agree. There are only a small percentage of Cruise movies I dont like. I think he's excellent and has been since he was young.

I just left it with parents for Fathers day. Is it a great movie? NO. Is it entertaining? Yes. Its a total ripoff of the way Glee does their music. It was fun enough, plus Hough on a stripper pole will give you something to fap about. 8/10 entertainment value, 3/10 as a actual movie.

Just saw it and I actually enjoyed it. Lots of REALLY hot chicks in it and the musical scenes were entertaining. Tom Cruise can sing, never thought I would say that.

Fiance and I enjoyed it too. A little overlong, but the music is good and the girls are smoking hot. The banter between Cruise and Giamatti is good stuff too. They kill it when they're on screen.

You fapped during a movie you went to with your parents?
Paging Mr. Herman.

WTF kind of person goes to the movies with their parents, and then sits with them?

The only reason to not like it is you're worried about looking gay.
To which I answer:
1. Being gay isn't bad. Grow up people.
2. Your sexuality isn't determined by what you do. It's determined by who you want to have sex with.
I saw the musical & it was great. I also have 2 kids who look like me, so I don't have to base my manhood on movies.
