I hope it happens and think it's a real possibility. They lost the support of their core fans and many casual fans.
They wouldn't throw billions down the drain by retconning as they got that money. They threw billions down the drain by putting out a shite product and destroying one of the premium ips. By dumping the EU they lost billions more.

I think they can save the brand, repair the damage and make obscene money by doing this

It makes it even more believable to me in that they have 3 ready made scape goats in KK, RJ and JJ.

Give the keys to Filoni & Favreau

Go back to the future of KOTOR and never look back on this dark time.

Too late.

Frankly, their best bet is to just make sure the next movie is as awesome as they can make it.

You do something like this, its a high chance is a confusion mess and then you're pissed on the Star Wars grave.

Exactly. The Mandalorian has proven that you don't need OT characters and plots to make a great Star Wars story.

And movies like Fury Road have proven that you can even be woke and still have a great movie. Kennedy, JJ and co. are just shitty storytellers.

I don’t see anyone talking the details he revealed so:

Rumor - Spoilers,

Doomcock says that the Emperor built a “room of mirrors” on the Death Star that contain endless different versions and timelines of the universe. Apparently, when he’s thrown down the shaft in ROJ he opens a portal by way of these mirrors and he’s transported to the world in ROS, although he’s severely damaged from it. He builds a new hall of mirrors on the Sith world, and he goes back through a portal (I forget why) but he isn’t able to return back to the sith planet because he’s locked out. Cutting off that entire alternate timeline and shuttering the new sequel trilogy.

He isn’t sure if they meant to do this, but it’s possible the mirrors Rey finds the evil version of herself in on the Death Star, which are broken, is proof of this theory

It honestly makes me think he's a former fratbro or a neckbearded edgelord. Or 12.

That’s a lot of crazy shite but if it means I get good Star Wars movies then sign me up.

Here’s what I would do. I would treat episodes 8 and 9 like the original trailer to Sonic: The Hedgehog. I would issue a press release video stating that new versions of episode 8 and 9 will be released, but for those who like them as is, they will still be available for purchase as the Kennedy Editions.

The casts get called in for re-shoots, and new versions of episode 8 and 9 are made simultaneously out of what was already shot plus reshoots. They create a story that actually works with continuity from TFA and previous star wars movies, and recut this stuff into two good movies. 8 and 9 are well acted and beautifully shot, but the story is straight up idiotic and pacing is horrendous. Fix those through re-shoots and create an 8 and 9 fans can be proud of. There is zero chance they wouldn’t turn a profit doing this, and the goodwill they would buy back from fans would ensure the next movie they release is an instant monster success.

Sonic proved the model that listening to your fans and addressing their concerns rather than shitting on them can lead to critical and financial success. Star Wars proved you can only shite on a ravenous fan base for so long before they abandon you.

Feloni and Favreau have a golden opportunity to fix everything.

I would be delighted at this news, but I find it hard to believe.

Yeah I saw them just recently and didn’t go in when all the emotions were running high. I thought they were ok as individual movies with plenty of entertaining segments throughout(especially ROS). Hell I even liked 85% of Luke and Rey’s scenes after the initial one or two. I thought Rey/Kylo’s dynamic was good and I liked a lot of the anakin/padme destruction arch compared to the Rey/Kylo salvation one. I don’t even mind palpatine and the ships if you give SOME kind of hint as to what is coming and it doesn’t feel that it’s just being thrown in at the beginning of a concluding chapter because your only other real big bad threat is so conflicted.

The lack of a clear story throughout the trilogy was by far the biggest issue I had with it.

It’s almost as if the middle segment was made by a different person as the first and third segment and that middle segment completely disregarded all foreshadowing put in place by thefirst segment leaving nowhere for the third one to go.

The Halloween series

First with Haloween H20 retconning out H3-H6 and then the most recent Halloween which retconned out H2-H8.

There have been 9 Halloween movies? I've only seen the first and parts of the third.

It's actually 11 when you add in the the Rob Zombie Halloween remake and sequel. It'll go to 12 once the the sequel to the most recent retcon comes out and a 13th is planned for after that.

It's 9 have a better batting average than Star Wars. Society should talk about SW less.

The sequels were all highly forgettable, so why not.

Pretty much every installment of the entire Highlander franchise retconned the shite out of everything else that had come before.

Force Awakens was lame rehash that added nothing to the series besides a semi-interesting new protagonist.
