No. It wasn't. Sorry you've been conditioned to like formulaic crap. It's not your fault. It's Hollywood's.

gotta concur here, i would have phrased differently

Force Awakens was lame rehash that added nothing to the series besides a semi-interesting new protagonist.

You mean antagonist?

Poe was somewhat interesting as well especially his scene on Takadona when he wiped out about a dozen or so First Order ships in a minute. Then he got cucked by some Purple haired muff cabbage in TLJ. They at least tried to make him interesting again in RoS.

Meh. They just copied ANH. I'd prefer an original story line at this point. They need to take some chances. If they get the right people that understand star wars and how its totally different than marvel, then we could get some good material. Sadly that may force them to hire white males to be in charge.

They should just punt on the Skywalker saga

I understand WHY people want this, but as long as you have jedi, the Skywalkers are going to be involved.

What really should have happened with the Skywalkers was that after Anakin fulfilled the prophecy, the Skywalker line should have been relegated to strong force users.

Instead of nerfing them to shite, or ignoring them, just make them a more minor part of the universe, they could even be a strong background presence.

We need to move on from the "prophecy" shite. The star wars universe needs the "after prophecy fulfilled" time period where small skirmishes across the galaxy are being addressed, and the values of the galaxy are re-imagined and explored in a post-Anakin world through the lens of the jedi order.

We never even got an answer on what the jedi order should have learned from Anakin. Was Anakin right about the jedi? How was he right? How can the order evolve to become a stronger and more noble organization?

There's so much there, but they're too interested in cheap social justice pandering and it prevents them from going into any amount of philosophical depth.

It’s almost as if the middle segment was made by a different person as the first and third segment and that middle segment completely disregarded all foreshadowing put in place by thefirst segment leaving nowhere for the third one to go.

I dont think JJ knew where he was going at all, he just made sure he was vague enough to give the next person room to get it done.

With Ashoka being cast for live action, and 1 one of the core 3 being dead, another not giving a damn, and Hamill looking rough, I say they just cast Sebastian Stan as Luke and have he and Ashoka out doing awesome Jedi stuff in the Universe.

Reasonable to me. Although Sebastian Stan doesnt give me a jedi vibe. Jedi have a very distinct presence.

I think you could bring back Hamill, and him looking rough isnt an issue in Hollywood. They can clean him up easy. If anything, start off with him as a wise old jedi sage, bestowing wisdom and knowledge on the younger generations in a new re-imagined jedi temple. Then illustrate the changes that have been implemented to the jedi order after the Anakin saga. The rules that led the jedi down their dark path, the rules that restrict the jedi humanity.

LINK

Doomcock has another update. Kathleen and her feminazi army is organizing to fight.

Also says Kennedy is out and Favreau is in.

Says Star wars celebration getting moved to 2022 instead of 2021 reflects this. Disney wants 2022 to be a new start for star wars in the image of Lucas.

You clearly didn't read the second part of my statement. At the time it was created, it was a solid film.
Nah, there were plenty of WTF's in TFA.

What is the Resistance resisting... we were following a timeline where the Empire had been taken down. People expected a progression from the OT, not a rejection of it.
Han being a deadbeat, then murdered by his emo son; just one of the most unpopular resolutions of a highly popular character ever.

The following films may have been down an unpopular road, but the road started out bad.

We wanted, we NEEDED a new and different conflict. An external threat to the Republic would have been incredible.

Fix #1- the Dr Strange solution:
have the next movie show us about 5 minutes of "highlights" from the prequel trilogy, then have Ben emerge shaken and covered with sweat, and totally out of sorts.
Master Luke has thrown him into a Force-created Mirror Dimension, unearthed his parental issues, and has shown him what his growth in the Force could cause if he doesn't get it under control. Rey can be nonexistent, or his fellow student.
**If you really want to have fun with that, cast Rose as a more advanced Jedi than Ben, maybe on the new Council. And she says "'We're going to win this war not by fighting what we hate, but saving what we love?'
REALLY??? What the hell did I do to you?"

Fix #2, if you don't like that one:
cast Stan as Luke, have him get involved with Baby Yoda in Mandalorian, and somehow a Force-Rift gets created where they see this alternate reality (the sequels) form. Luke is able to close the rift by the end of the season, abolishing this future, maybe with the aid of Asoka.

Hopeful, but I'll believe it when I see it.

The idea they have to explain why these movies aren’t cannon in such a ridiculous way baffles me.

Just say you’re sorry they were all terrible and we’re going to try it again. You’ve lost Carrie fisher, but that can be written around.

I’m serious.

Luke alive
Han alive

Don’t tie yourself to a single new character from the 7-9.

That sounds nice, but we're not talking about a B movie franchise here. We're talking about an iconic franchise that Disney invested 4 billion in, just to get the rights to make a story. People have seen them, and "serious" fans are borderline autistic about integrating timelines and what-not.

So you can go ahead and make that statement, but you need to throw out some reason for their existence other than "we chose the wrong writers".

I think they really WOULD like a do-over, but they'd have to clean up the mess they made. Using the original actors makes that more important, because we've seen Harrison and Mark die on screen.

I also think it was a huge mistake to ever cast the original characters the way they did, as it just blows the rest of that character's potential (even with a re-cast), and their timeline with it.
I would have been hugely interested in a recast group, and their adventures in the Mandalorian (post-OT) timeline; but not anymore.

How TFA should have begun is by Han and Leia being together in the New Republic and have Poe finding a pocket of something like the First Order assembling somewhere far away after hearing rumors about it or something like that. Luke is training Ben and has a Jedi Temple thing going and we find out that Return of the Jedi actually meant something all this time. It would actually made sense then.

Y'know at this point, why the frick not. Let's bring the fan fiction threesome of ghost dad Vader wingmanning for Luke to get it on with his old padowan.

It can't be worse.
