Just watched this yesterday for the first time in decades, and it's so good. I was most impressed with Kirsten Dunst's performance at such a young age, she nailed her role and I found her to be very believable both as a young child and decades later when she's an older woman trapped in a child's body.

Anne Rice originally boycotted the movie because they cast Tom Cruise as Lestat, but after she saw the movie she liked his performance so much that she issued a public apology and personally called Cruise to apologize.

Antonio Banderas and Stephen Rea both have great performances too. Just a great movie all around that holds up well nearly 25 years later. It's on Netflix now, highly recommend if you haven't seen it.

I liked it when it came out but I didn't like a few of the changes to the overall story.

Heck I thought Cruise was better than Pitt.

I also think Cruise was far better than Rice's choice. She wanted Rutger Hauer if I remember right.

Queen of the Damned was garbage. Really wanted to see The Vampire Lestat.

Hope Hulu spends some money on the series.

Oh absolutely. I read that Pitt tried hard to get out of the movie because they were always filming in the dark and it was affecting him too much emotionally. He's pretty stiff throughout.

My mark for a good performance is when I forget who I'm watching and I have that suspension of disbelief for the character. Cruise did that.

Really starts to get bad around Tale of the Body Thief.

Much worse than the first few novels.

Not that there is anything wrong with that but if Vampires are going to be gay I only want...

One question I had from the movie, maybe this was covered in the books. When they bury Louis alive and tell him he'll be alone with his screams for centuries, wouldn't he die from not being able to feed?

I remember when we rented this on VHS when I was about 8 years old, my sister got so freaked out at this part that she had to stop watching the movie and went to bed.

Uhhhh.....no.

I’m a huge Rice fan and have read the whole series. Interview remains one of my favorite movies. Cruise and Pitt were fantastic in it. Both had really accurate portrayals of the book’s characters imo. Banderas was also great, but his character in the books is a teenager. The source material for Queen of the Damned was too extensive to fit in the movie, but the script was decent enough to make a watchable movie, though the movie is horribly miscast and the acting is horrendous. It’s a shame they didn’t follow through with multiple movies with the same quality and storytelling displayed in Interview. There’s some great source material there.

One of my favorites. I usually watch it at least once a year. Solid flick.

My thoughts exactly.
Will watch soon.

I wanna see some more Lestat, but I also wanna see Marius with Pandora. Blood and Gold would make a great Movie or Hulu series with it taking place in Italy during the start of a new age in Art and culture (The renaissance).

on a weekly basis, i go out of my way to tell someone that they lack the courage of their convictions.

if you havent seen it, Neil Jordan also directed Byzantium more recently. it's no Interview, buts its a pretty great, low key vampire movie.

Saw it for the first time since the cinema a few years ago and was shocked how well it held up, seemed better.

Personally have so much Criuse fatigue that I avoid him like the plague but to me this is his best performance.

Interesting takes, I always thought this was a meh movie and did not like Cruise at all, thought it would have been better if he was Louis and Pitt was Lestat.

Never understood why they never made the Vampire Lestat into a movie, of the 2 books I always like that one better
