It sucks. But Indiana is dead to me.

I don't see why the Disney movie should retroactively kill the series. You can still enjoy the original 3 great movies, same with the original Star Wars, just ignore what Disney puts out.

I’m willing to bet however this will make some reassess Crystal Skull
I think Crystal Skull will end up like the Star Wars prequels. You think it's utter shite from Lucasfilm because it's not as good as the originals, but what you thought was bad from independent Lucasfilm is still miles ahead of Disney.

I never Got the “x is dead to me”

Raiders isn’t any less of a masterpiece because they kept trying to make movies.

It’s at 50 now with 38 reviews.

The deviation doesn’t seem to be that great between the rotten and fresh reviews.

It’s either a “meh” or a “ok kinda cool”

Best served with low expectations I think.

So spoilers:

From the honest reviews...

Kathleen Kennedy strikes again.

Same 'ol shite, so not a spoiler I guess.

But spoilers..

Like Luke, Indiana Jones no longer cares, wants to stay in the past...and is a whimpering simp...he's a relic (white male hero symbolism) and gets knocked into his senses by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (literally) as she saves the day.

The Force is Female reviewers laud it as "the passing of the torch" which is code for...well...Burying his legacy...and males as helpless.

She decks Ford because he has to go back to the present to reconcile with his former wife who divorced him.

And then...the hat is snatched by the Heroine, who now will have a franchise.

The SW prequels are better than Crystal Skull. I think most everyone can agree that the PT at least has its high moments. CS just all around sucked.

Years ago, over many a cold beer or single malt scotch, my friends and I have contemplated what are favorite movie of all time. It took some doing, and several beverages, but I came to the conclusion that mine was Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I was OK with Temple of Doom as a less than but acceptable sequel. The story was good, I just ignored the life raft gag and a few other dumb plot points. And Willie was hotter than Marion so I overlooked her annoying screechy persona.

Last Crusade came roaring back with the quality of Raiders and was a perfect end to the story.

I’m fine with stopping there.

Skull was an abortion.

I’ll never see this turd. Disney can piss up a rope.

This is fair. One thing that always bothered me in Holy Grail is how he refers to it all as "bedtime stories"... from a man who has literally experienced the powers of the Ark of the Covenant, he's seen rocks start glowing after he chants some shite about Shiva while dangling on a rope ladder, but somehow he's skeptical and sarcastic about the holy grail story.

Prequel. Doom is set before Raiders.

I have visited a couple of Crusade filming locations in recent years. The opening scene was filmed at Double Arch in Arches National Park, and of course the Treasury at Petra for the grail location.

I hated it. I cringed at the monkeys/Shia swinging in vines and the nuclear blast-proof fridge, and Ford just looked too old for the role.

But maybe the movie itself was an ok Indiana Jones movie and it was me that was changed. It was about 20 years after Last Crusade and I (and maybe most) weren’t really asking for another one. I wasn’t a kid anymore and the goofy action wasn’t appealing. I saw it out of some sense of duty, bc hey it’s an Indiana Jones movie so of course I’ll go see it, but I wasn’t excited to see it.

So I’m gonna sit this new one out. Even if it’s better written, Ford hasn’t gotten any younger.

The only time I comment on it is when the critic score is super high but the audience score is rotten. That's the key element. It's never just the critic score.

What about when the critic score is mediocre and the audience score is super high?

Historically, I tend to think those movies are good, but lately, it's not any more reliable than anything else.

And fiction is the only place where this can happen.

if theh already decided it’s woke garbage that means the reviews are fake

if they already decided it got bad critic reviews because it isn’t woke enough that means those reviews are real.

89% audience score is pretty good

Super Troopers got a 36% critic score and 90% audience score haha i know who i side with.

generally critics favor more high-brow, artsy films. Audience is just looking for a fun way to pass 2 hours.

After seeing it, I think the reviews were bad because it wasn’t woke. There was no female passing of the torch. PWB was fine in her role. She played Indy’s long lost God daughter who had her own issues that Indy helped straighten out in the end. If anything, it shows a female character who thought didn’t “need” a strong male figure in her life realize she actually does need a strong male figure in her life.

just noticed if you go to verified audience the reviews it is 89% but if you go to unverified it drops to an 80% haha so people that haven't seen it think it is worse than those that have.

also critics score has gone up to 68% so you can update OP RollTide1987

Your post is so true. There is no passing of the torch. The jokes about the girl handling things are due to the fact the Jones is 80 years old. And the hat snatching is completely false. There is only one person who could snatch the hat and the girl isnt even in the area when it happens. Movie was still bad and a hot mess though. But a lot of the hate it is getting here is off target and assumptions. The only positive is that they didnt betray the character. He never is not indiana Jones
