I blame HBO. They shouldn’t have started production on the show and paid for the rights until the entire series of books was completed.

Kit Harington wanted the spin-off series to show Jon with PSTD. Jon would send Ghost away, throw Longclaw away, and spend his time building and burning huts. The series would end with Jon dying. HBO thought this idea was too pessimistic and shelved the project.
HBO is currently developing an Arya Stark spin-off series set in Essos.
Because everything showbiz must cater to women and feminists.
Arya Stark will be girl bossing through everyone again.
Kit Harrington as Jon Snow is too masculine. Maybe if he had written in a strong black woman "co-lead" it would have been instantly geeen lit.

Because I’m sure this thread would enjoy the anti GRRM jabs, especially if you are aware of backstories.

He had put out 4 books in 10 years when the rights were bought. The 5th book published 3 months after the premiere of the first season.
Not sure HBO could have predicted what happened.

Impossible to have predicted it. He wrote Storm of Swords in TWO YEARS. That’s unreal. 21,000 words per month

He’s made it abundantly clear he’s not going to allow that

I haven’t watched ERB in many years. Good stuff.

Considering Jon is the last Targaryen, they should have him with a family. That way in the future they could do a series where the Targaryens come back into power.

Season six started filming nearly ten years ago.
Wild. And I remember the same empty promises. A lot of people actually believed he might finish the books before the series ended (maybe before season 5)

He says he doesn't want it finished by another writer so I'm really going to enjoy the conclusion written by whoever his wife/gf brings in the day after his funeral.
