I’m sure it’s been discussed - Top 5 Stephen King movies?

I doubt anyone would disagree with “Shawshank” as #1.

What you have 2-5?

Carrie
Green Mile
The Shining
Stand By Me

I could replace “Stand By Me” with “Misery”

I’m sure plenty would. I’d probably have Stand By Me first. Others would put The Shining there. After 40 years of adaptations, I feel like I’d need to see a list of all of them to do a top 5 or 10 and do it justice. I feel safe saying that Stand By Me, Shawshank, and The Shining would be 3 of my top 5, though.

I may like Stand By Me more than Shawshank. But both are all time greats.

I’d need to see a list of his movies because I’m not sure how many I’ve seen. But I will throw out one that may not be on anybody’s lists. The Langoliers. It isn’t a terribly good movie really, and the execution of the climax wasn’t great (and the SFX don’t help ), but I remember watching it when I was younger and absolutely loving the concept of it. The whole idea of what happens to yesterday was really cool to younger me.

Yeah I would.

The answer is The Shining. And it's not close.

Then:

Stand by Me
Misery
The Mist - Director's B&W Cut
Carrie

The Dead Zone is fairly high as well. I could see it above Shawshank. But those are the next two. With The Running Man right behind and for some reason I want to put it in the Top 5 too.

Then Christine, Cujo, It, and Pet Semetary.

Good calls on both. I wouldn't put them in the top 5, but man I enjoy both movies.

The Shining was a bad adaptation of the novel.

Misery
The Shining
Stand by Me
Shawshank
Green Mile

These are by no means his top 5 books IMO, but they are the best movies interpretations of his books.

just for my personal list, some reasons for nostalgic purposes in ways.

Apt pupil, as a film is underrated though imo.

I feel like this can be answered one of two ways: The Top 5 movies based on Stephen King novels, or the Top 5 Stephen King movies?

The Shawshank Redemption is one of the greatest films of all time. The Green Mile is awesome too. However, John Doe walking down the sidewalk probably doesn't know that both of those films are based on works by Stephen King. Movies like It or The Shining, though, well, if you don't know those films are based on King novels then you're an idiot.

The movies listed above were indeed fine ones,
but ...

Does “The Stand” not qualify because it is a TV mini-series? Probably not but a fine adaptation nonetheless.
