If TDKR is "meh", will you admit it?

Seems like so many people on here blindly "trust in Nolan" no matter what. They have built this movie into something in their minds that cannot fail. tis already the greatest movie ever made before they have seen it.

I personally hope it is good because it will be my first time in the theatre since the last Batman movie (which I thought was great for 2/3 of the movie but blew the final act). However, I wonder if some the posteres and fanboys on here would be willing to admit it if this movie comes in as merely average or worse.

There will be a rush of people calling "meh" until the positive reviews show up and they backtrack.

Nah, there's always going to be people that play the role of "I'm going to say the opposite of the popular opinion no matter what". It could be the greatest movie ever filmed and some people would say "wellll...I just didn't think it was all that special really"

Depends on what you mean by "meh". Some people have very high expectations so if it's just "meh" to them, it'll still be a great film. For example, if they expect it to be a 10, meh to them will be an 8.5 to 9. Not bad. Now for those who go in with no expectations and a blank slate, meh to them may be a 6-7.

For me, I'm just going to enjoy the 2-3 times I wind up seeing it in theaters and not worrying about how I would rate it.

that is your opinion. I think he's done some good work, but I don't trust anyone that much till I see the finished product. Loved Batman Begins, Loved 2/3 of TDK and hoping for the best with this one

Batman Begins was better, but Dark Knight was still great.

Why wouldn't I admit if the movie sucked?

Honestly, I would be shocked if this movie is bad. But I am not hyping it up to be the next transcendental art film (to steal a term from Trollane), but it better damn well be a good summer movie.

Well he is very talented. But he doesn't have the perfect resume like some claim (Following was boring and Insomnia was forgettable). I have faith in him to not do a terrible job.

Dangerous assumption.

Speilberg gave us nothing but great films. We had no reason to doubt him in any endeavor.

And then came The Lost World.

Plus, Inception was merely okay.

There are so many expectations built in for this movie, it's going to be so difficult for it to live up to them. I think there'll be people lining up to say "meh."

Most of the time I don't go into a movie trying to be a movie critic. If it can hold my attention for the whole movie then I give it a thumbs up.

Inception wasn't as deep and mindblowing as people would have you believe. Yes it is a bit confusing on the first viewing and that's what makes people say "OMG SO DEEP AND COMPLEX!! MY MIND!!!!", but if you rewatch it, it's really not that difficult to put the pieces together. As for that ending, stop trying to figure it out folks, it was left intentionally open-ended.

It's not about admitting it. It's about backing it up.

There's a big difference between: "Personally, the film did not appeal to me," and "Batman TDKR was a terrible film."

The major problem is that people say the latter when they really mean the former. And that isn't alone to the Batman franchise. That goes for any well hyped film.

And if you actually say that it sucked (or was "meh,") then have facts. You can't just say it. That's where a lot of arguments start. because then people have to just unabashedly love it or defend it and so forth. And then more people hate it. Then more people love it. Then we decide if it's whether it's cool to love it or hate it. Rinse, Repeat.
