I think my biggest issue with Armageddon the crew round-up.

A movie with a ton of issues but still a fun movie that entertains.
Harry and his daughter take a USAF priority VIP flight from South China sea to Houston in 18 hours. That's pretty much direct.
Within a day he said to find his team and round them up. At BEST its 48 Hours from the time Harry left.
Using a crew boat and commercial travel how would they all disperse to such random locations. (New Orleans, oklahoma, El Paso, Vegas, nyc) ?
Yeah the astronaut screaming in space when his face shield broke may be the silliest gaffe but the whole 18 day timeline is crazy tight.
By comparison Deep Impact which was the smarter film (Though not as remembered) had over a year pass between finding the comment and the mission to destroy it even being announced.

My biggest issue is AJ having his own business started up and running within, what?, 48 hours of Harry firing him?
The movie uses music video logic. It’s a series of images devoid of chronological context.

helicoper ride to port then hop on a plane, nothing about that is that far fetched. now finding bear on a dirt road in the middle of bump frick nowhere was the WTF moment for me, hell he didnt even have a phone so how could they find him? same goes for the fat guy at tattoo parlor

Yes. That too. He was already up and running and had a oil pump and all. Of all the ones rounded up that was the craziest.
Almost as if the timeline was condensed in later editing.

On the Russian space station scene.
Seems the houses where no where near what you use for liquid oxygen. But the worst was the station parts falling towards down to the shuttles not outward as the station was spinning to simulate gravity. Everything would fly away from it.

yeah never made much sense that "when the guys get off the rig, they scatter" when in fact they had struck oil and would be busier than ever.
plus, when he agrees, lets say thats 3 days later...Harry and her were direct helo'd then flighted out...the crews would have most likely been somewhere between the rig and whatever port near where they were drilling, not already home in US getting wild.
Fun movie regardless....watch everytime its on.

Same. Like every scene is unrealistic and I know what's coming next but I've devoted my midday to it and AJ just saved the day.

This is the one I rewatch, not Armageddon.

Armageddon would make for a great “overanalyze” thread since there is so much ridiculous shite in it. Awesome movie too.

Harry firing a shotgun at AJ on the rig, causing a single spark from a ricochet.
Why in the world did the Aardvarks (Armadillos?) have chain guns mounted on them?

Doesn’t need one.
Ben’s DVD commentary takes care of that.

Yeah, that attempted murder never sat well with me. I don’t care if it’s bird shot, he’s firing at AJ’s head. And nobody had a problem with it until Harry actually connected with a ricochet. Everyone should’ve been going apeshit with a crazed a-hole walking around trying to murder someone in plain sight.

Especially with the rig owners in bound on a chopper due to arrive any second.
I was making a mental note. The opening scene where the astronaut gets hit in the face and they shoe his unprotected face reacting to the meteors and screaming in space.

lolololol. Best part of the directors commentary. If you havent already, I highly suggest watching it.
This particular comment was lobbed at ben after he said, "Who ranks drillers? Does someone keep that list? How do we know he's the best?"
stfu Ben.

I thought the STFU comment was when Affleck asked why they didn't just train astronauts to drill instead of the other way around.

The dumbest part is thinking it would be easier to train drillers to become astronauts than train astronauts on how to drill.
