Didn't Disney admit they still haven't made their money back with the Lucasfilm acquisition?

First season was phenomenal. They didn’t stick the landing though.

Again, those 4 were the best they offered. It’s all next to mountains of shite that takes away from them.

They absolutely refuse to cater to the older fans that grew up with the OT and PT. It makes absolutely zero sense

The plan was always to shelve the OG characters & make bank on all new, all Disney merch.

Seems like it. And what an absolute failure of a plan

You are contending Disney's lying to make themselves look incompetent. . .well, it's a take

Claiming losses isnt incompetent unless youve never owned a business.

I think they legitimately thought they could buy the brand and the fans would just consume consume consume without any thought as to the product being put out.

Then when they realized they had made a horrific mistake, they started pushing out activism products to try and catch headlines to garner support. Which backfired even more and led to fans abandoning the franchise.

Now they’re sitting there with absolutely no clue how to move forward. They’ve lost their asses on almost everything they have put out and have their directors/actors calling fans racist/bigots for not liking the shite they are releasing. Hell, that’s one huge reason The Acolyte was cancelled. Their director and actors were saying publicly “don’t like it? Fine don’t watch”. Then when people actually did that and got them cancelled, they screamed “RACISM!!”

The best thing for Star Wars would be for someone else to buy it and say “everything that Disney did is non-canon”. You would get back a huge chunk of the fanbase by doing that alone

Hot take:

It isn't near as bad as everyone says it is.

It's nowhere near as great as it could have and should have been, obviously. But having rewatched them in recent years, outside of some obvious things they really aren't too bad of movies. They are entertaining enough for me.

ETA: Fingers crossed that this isn't the argument Corinthians is also making in the thread.

I've never used the word ableist in my life. Sounds like some dumb shite you would come up with.

not recouping an investment after 13 years is quite different from "claiming losses", unless you have never owned a business. . .or know what money is

I think you have to understand Hollywood as a religious organization that sees their #1 priority as something that isnt tied to profit motives. Once you understand that then it all makes sense and you can lower your expectations.

I have definitely come to the conclusion that Star Wars was way overrated, and I hate telling my inner child that. Looking back, it’s pretty absurd people argued if Star Wars or Lord of the Rings is better, because maybe outside of the villains and tying with special effects and the orchestral score, LotR obviously has it beat across the board.

The Last Jedi just completely ruins it for me. One of the worst lines in cinema…..

“That’s how we’re going to win. Not fighting what we hate. But saving what we love!”

Theyve earned $13+ billion dollars on a $4 billion dollar purchase.....

They claim theyve spent more than they've earned but disney+ subscriptions and park tickets dont count as star wars revenue.
