I watched it late and didn’t really get to read the impressions till now. That was an all timer episode of TV and I really don’t see how people have a negative impression. Glad I’m not that miserable.

Shut up cake eater!

Nah, I’m with you actually. Hard to swallow Dany’s heel turn, though it can be argued it was set up. As long as I accept it though, it was a fantastic 1.25 hours of television.

I thought it was good, they gave Cersei a death that she probably wanted. I liked the fact Jamie killed Uncle Greyjoy that was cool. Only thing I dont like and I know is coming is Dany is gonna die next episode

A lot of the bigger podcasts are pissed too. It wasn’t perfect but I feel like it wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the other issues over last two years.

Honestly, I thought the episode, standing alone for pure "flick" value was pretty well done. They did a lot of the right things: mad queen, Clegane Bowl, etc., but the way they got there was pretty forced. Lots of things were completely our of character for lots of participants, which i think is what most are pointing out.

And as weird as this sounds, it was kind of anti-climactic. I didn't ever think 50 minutes of torching a city could be anti-climactic, but again, they build up a battle, go to painstaking lengths to point out the long and almost insurmountable odds the "good guys" face, and poof, we win. Well, that was easy.

I actually enjoy coming here to see the usual people give us their expert opinions on how GOT should end and why everyone else is wrong

Yes. This board would give the impression that we have a wealth of successful screenwriters and novelists who are experts on storytelling and world building

I get some of the criticisms, but after review, the only one with merit is Cersi's end.

Dany's been on the road to her conduct last night for quite some time. The line about choosing fear over love explains her motivations. Why it happened when it happened? The event was the result of manipulations/machinations that she clearly was not on board with and ran contrary to her role as Queen.

Arya's behavior - she is above all else a survivor. Yes, she performed some ninja shite in Episode 3, but that scenario was far different from having dragonfire as well as stone and massive structures falling all around her. Faceless man, or otherwise, it was an unsettling situation.

Failure of defenses compared to previous week. Either Dany or Drogon learned a lesson. Not a blind frontal assault, but use of the sun, elevation, etc. ended up putting them in the position to exact the damage they did.

Obviously, it was rushed and there are some holes, but as has been pointed out by others, it was a damned impressive episode visually, sound, etc.

I don't think you get why people are agitated if you think it's all about the ending. The characters in this show were well fleshed out, and even though it's a fantasy show, things made sense. We're now at a point of something happening that makes no sense and people trying to turn around and justify all of it after the fact. The show is rushing and getting lazy.

I mean they ruined my favorite character - Tyrion.

He has literally done nothing to deserve the treatment he gets as a strategic genius. He's been wrong consistently, and for an encore he killed his friend to support a murderous lunatic.

Good job, genius.

This board is filled with characters playing roles they’ve committed to. It’s less honest discussion and more so posters holding firm to the character they are pretending to be.

I hate this argument to defend something bad. It's like saying a person can't criticize Steph Curry if he goes 1-19 from the field in a Finals game because "they aren't an NBA level PG."

You don't have to be some expert world builder to say something felt rushed or contrived to you.
