i watched "joker" for first time ever last night, man that was some really dark depressing shite to watch
it was hard to follow at times and jumbled up with fantasy scenes that you slowly figure out later werent real at all and by the end of the movie i felt like i wanted to commit suicide too
he must have been doing LSD or something like it to prepare for doing that role
it wasnt a terrible movie, just nothing like i thought it would be and i was very disappointed it didnt follow the batman narrative of him killing batmans parents though

The better version of this movie is You Were Never Really Here.

It was not a fun movie to watch. I’ll never watch it again.

I thought it was a fantastic movie, even if it wasn't the feel-good flick of the year.
Yes, it was a bit dark and depressing. Gritty and brutally honest at times. Even despite the unreliable narrator. It wasn't the cleverest of devices, but it worked for the story.

The opening bit on the train really got across for the first time that Joker isn't the Cesar Romero circus clown, but rather a legitimately mentally ill person whose reality was broken.

Great take. I really appreciated the film and what it set out to do.

Ummmm, it followed through with the Batman narrative. Joe Chill kills Batman’s parents, not the Joker. That’s just from Batman 1989. Typically Batman and Joker are of roughly the same age.

It's not a comic book movie. They just slapped the Joker title on there to get more attention, and it worked. I really like it because Joaquin is awesome, but I don't think of it as an actual film about the "joker."

thought it was a good movie, but it’s really just Taxi Driver with a coat of DC paint on it.

I really liked and thought Phoenix was exceptional.

Didn't they have Joker killing his parents also in Batman TAS?

The first time? He's been depicted that way for 40 years or more.

Not that I needed confirmation at all, but this proves that it's a really good movie.
Thanks for confirming.

I loved Taxi Driver and would also be okay with never seeing it again

The fact that a movie could elicit that kind of emotional reaction and have such a punch proves that it was an excellent movie.
Calling that movie bad because it had that kind of impact is emotionally lazy, imo.
