It sounds a lot like saving private Ryan.

Maybe, but the cinematography looks incredible. And WW1 isn't represented enough in Hollywood.

Wasn’t it shot in a single take or something?

local guys who have seen the flick(they are voters for academy awards), said it was f'in brilliant. Movie is made so you feel like you are in the bunkers/fox holes/etc with them, not like your watching them from seat of movie theater.

This, on so many levels. Seems like the less bullets someone can fire at one time, the less likely they are to make it.

Yep. Trench warfare and Mustard gas doesn't excite them I guess. That war was brutal.

Maybe the last 20 minutes.

Trying to stop someone from ordering another useless and futile attack where everyone is butchered for no reason.

I visited Verdun in September. This is the ossuary at the French cemetery there. It is filled with bones and bone fragments of bodies they never identified because they had been pulverized by months of shelling. You can look into the windows and the bone pieces are stacked to the ceiling. This is in addition to the tens of thousands of bodies that were identified and given proper burials. That war was absolutely murder on an industrial scale.

Anyone know why no New Orleans theatres are showing this?

Because WWI wasn’t about saving the Jews.

It’s made to look that way. Basically it’s a bunch of long shots sliced together to look like one continuous take.

Can’t wait to go see it.

It's probably more that WWI wasn't really an American war.

There's more about the European theater and the Nazis. There's a lot of powerful jews in Hollywood. It's really no big deal. I like WWII movies but that's a big reason there are so many European theater movies compared to the Pacific theater. which was a much larger effort with more troops involved, more casualties and lasted longer. It is what it is. I don't really care. Just recognizing the reality.
