I have heard that "The Patriot" is terribly inaccurate and offensive to the British

Is this true?

Would you be offended if the movie was bashing the US?

I would like to know what specifically is offensive...other than the part where they limp their shite back across the pond

Inaccurate sure.

But it's not like the Brits in the film weren't portrayed as being appalled at how Issac's character acted.

Between this and brave heart Mel Gibson had more against them than the Jewish thing he got in trouble for

This is it exactly. There is no record of this ever happening anywhere during the Revolutionary War.

Oh...and the summary execution of wounded Continental POWs on Mel Gibson's front porch. I'm pretty sure they had a big problem with that, too.

No there isn't, nor is Tavington a real person.

What did happen was that the colonials exaggerated accounts of the way prisoners and noncombatants were treated by the British in order to enrage the fighting populace to fight harder.

Oh and lest we forget, it's just a movie. Do the British not even Hollywood?

I'm a god fearing middle class American white male with a solid family life and a good job. I don't get offended.

I don't think the British have such a problem with it since BBC America marathons it non-stop for weeks at a time. Don't believe me? Turn to BBC America right now. Of course it's on.

This movie is amazing. It should be required watching for every high school history class, at least for AP.

Tarleton was one of a few individuals that was amalgamated into the character. Same with Martin, who was a combination of a few different colonial officers.
