Is this a requirement for a good movie?

Doesn't your question also invalidate your whole "girl power" criticism? If the audience is not supposed to root for anyone, or if the the filmmakers aren't presenting the characters actions as positive, how can it have a positive, specifically "girl power" in this case, message?

As I read through this thread, I figured I would skip this one, then as I read more, I thought that I needed to check this out for myself.

Wow, what a dumb movie. Even psychopaths have a sense of self-preservation, but there was no reasonable motivation for her to act like this. They could have improved the story significantly by making her financially desperate—that could have given her plausible motivation. But instead:

1. She had a successful business and was doing fine.
2. They warned her and gave her a great incentive to give up this one grift.
3. They escalated the pressure and still she had an opportunity to give up this one thing and continue her successful business.

And then the biggest eye roll of course was her sudden ability to physically overcome professional bad guys with guns.

That being said, if you don't get too triggered by this implausibly ballsy woman, I would say it could be worth a watch, it's entertaining in its own way. But if you have anger issues your head might explode.

God this had such potential from creating such a hateable character. I even read this thread before watching.

The girl power at the end was so unbelievable and ridiculous. Best part of the movie was the end when that thing happened. Blegh.

I was yelling at the TV when Dinklege asked her to go into business with him.

Yep. It sucked. I wanted to turn it off half way through.

I only finished it with the hope that Dinklage's character would take her out.

Well, the teaser for it on Netflix looks awesome. Now the MTV Board says it’s crap? Will watch immediately and wait for the Oscar nomination.
