Hugh Jackman completely encapsulate

He's a foot taller and comes off with a calm demeanor. He doesn't completely encapsulate Wolverine.

Just because someone does a really good job doesn't mean the role should be banned for life.

No it’s not like saying that. I’m sorry, but Jack Nicholson’s Joker wasn’t really an encapsulation of the character, and neither we’re Heath Ledger’s or Joaquin Phoenix’s. They were wonderful interpretations of the character, but they were also signs of the time.

Don't go omitting the Clown Prince of Crime, Cesar Romero.

Yeah, he was also the perfect Joker for the 60s, I agree. The only one I think is truly timeless is Hamill’s interpretation, but the other Jokers perfectly encapsulate the mentality at the time which is why they all age well.

Agree to disagree. Wolverine has always been watered down due to limited bloody violence in superhero films, until Logan came along and gave fans what they always wanted.

ETA: Agree with OML when it comes to the Joker. Hamill is GOAT

This.
Jackman is a movie star. Enjoyable.

But 97 X-Men Wolverine-short, brooding a-hole, is Wolverine.

Reynolds stole the test footage when they weren’t going to make Deadpool and risked going to jail to get this movie made. He leaked the test footage over the internet and it received glowing praise making the executives change their mind overnight.

Uhhhm... no.

While it's still assumed that the "absolute bastard" who leaked the footage was Reynolds, no one has ever admitted to it nor has anyone attempted to prove/disprove it.

As for "overnight", well that's simply wrong. The footage floated around for almost a decade before the studio gave them the nod. When they did though, the budget was only a fraction of what other superhero projects go. Such a small budget meant they had to advertise it in an asymmetrical way. Reynolds deeply understood the character and was uncommonly (for a star) involved with advertising decisions (he kept a Deadpool suit for random pics and videos). This understanding of the character and his knowledge of being in cinema is what Reynolds and the marketing team focused on, giving them the ability to craft all sorts of fun (and Deadpool-y) ads on the cheap.

Agree. Saw a theory on reddit that the storyline of movie will be the "destruction" of the Fox Marvel Universe and that Deadpool is the only one to escape to our MCU. Would make sense given Deadpool's fourth wall breaking and would actually make all of Fox Universe "cannon" in a way.

Of course Ryan did it. His career was over if this film didn’t get released. This was his life’s work. There’s no one else who would have done it or had more to gain than Ryan Reynolds.

I guess Music Man is ending. He was doing 8 shows a week for a long time.

(He was really good in the role too)

Reynolds seems like a cool guy. And then I read this bullshite:

quote:

Reynolds first met Blake Lively in early 2010 while filming Green Lantern, in which they co-starred.[93] They began dating in October 2011[94] and married on September 9, 2012, at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.[95] In the wake of civil rights protests in 2020, Reynolds publicly apologized and expressed deep regret for using that venue due to its association with slavery; he and Lively renewed their vows at home in New York

Has to be a multiverse kinda thing, right? Similar to having 2 other Spidermen?

Maybe they start in the Sony Universe - having a mini-adventure (with all kinda crazy-arse hijinks), then, somehow, Deadpool gets yanked into the current MCU. Meaning he keeps being the same ole Deadpool . . .

Most likely, yes. He's never admitted to it though so the best you can accurately say is that it's assumed he did it.

Are you high? He was a well-known name and had incredibly steady work every year prior to Deadpool as well as between Origins and Deadpool. Deadpool shot him into the stratosphere but let's not exaggerate by trying to frame it as Deadpool was some sort of life-long dream which became an all-or-nothing gamble where he would have had to hitch a ride out of Hollywood in order to find another career had it failed.

He had been a fan of the character years before playing Wade Wilson in Origins, because of that knowledge he hated how the character was treated in the Origins. Because he could see potential with the character, he then busted his arse for around a decade trying to get Fox to bite on his idea.

Yep. These really good actors doing superhero movies is like Saban going to Alabama. He kept saying he wasn't going there, but they kept throwing money and control at him.

The Proposal kinda sent him into stardom before Deadpool.
