re: How I Met Your Mother (5/14) -- The Season Finale

I am not sure what conspiracy theories you guys are talking about now, but here is factual information on the direction of the series.

Ted is not marrying Robin or Victoria.

There are either one or two more seasons left. The writers will decide this over the summer (probably by July, according to the article Quail Man posted).

That is Ted's baby in the Star Wars episode three years from now.

For the last time, those are Ted's kids. Yes, Ted get marries to a girl he meets at Barney's (and likely Robin's) wedding. Since it is Barney's wedding, it makes sense that it would be Barney's sister (or half-sister, cannot remember which).

Ted has a sister and 2 brothers from other mothers in Barney and Marshall

It is a valid point, but there is no guarantee that when he was telling the story to the kids he actually dropped the name. But that is way paying attention to detail because I would have never picked up on it like that if you hadn't brought it up

I'm not sure why some people think that we will meet the mother and have another season. I think it is pretty clear by the title that we will meet the mother in the last episode of the final season. I'm mean the name of the show is NOT "How I met and Fell IN Love With Your Mother".

IMO, I would put the best odds on the possibility that we meet the mother on the final scene of the final episode of the final season. The last line will be "And that kids is HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!"

This was discussed a while back, with some agreeing with you and some saying they'd want to at least meet the mother and learn some shite about her before the show ends.

I tend to agree with you though, and that ending would make the most sense and jive with how the show is (since Saget speaks so matter-of-factly a lot of times..."and THAT is how I met your mother", like you said).


I also agree with something someone else said a page or two back, about how they just enjoy the show because it's funny. I agree with that. I still get frustrated when I feel like the writers keep trying to frick over the audience, and the whole unreliable narrator thing is big time annoying sometimes...but I didn't start watching the show until a few years ago. My friends told me it was pretty funny and I'd prolly like it, so I just randomly picked up a few seasons ago. Because of that, I missed a lot of the references from early on in the show, so I get a lot of that information from you guys in these threads.

Im going to agree with the majority of people on here and say the finale sucked. It seems very clear Robin and Barney are going to get married, but im curious as to what goes wrong at the wedding since Saget made it very clear.

The whole Robin-Ted thing this season did nothing for me and it screams of the writers trying to buy time. The Barney-Robin thing only sprung up due to convenience and makes both characters weaker. Both Robin and Barney are better characters when they have their own storylines.

Exactly. It would have made sense if Robin was completely off the show for a while because maybe the actress was filming a movie. But that isn't what happened. She kept coming back in dreams, flashbacks, etc. They threw this weird controversy in there that lasted 4 or 5 episodes then solved it over the course of one quick conversation in the hospital.
