How early did yall pop on Star Wars for your kid?

My boy is 5.5 and is dying for Star Wars, it’s not that there’s blood or cussing it’s just a hesitation that he’ll “get it”?
Is that dumb? Should I just throw on New Hope and say frick it?

Give him Clone Wars (animated movie, followed by the animated series), then Bad Batch, then Rebels (animated series). If he's hooked, then you can start with the movies.

whenever SW 7 came out. went back and watched the first 3 for wife and daughter, 18 at the time, I think.

I was 7 and watched Dances with Wolves with my granddad, one of my favorite films. Let the kid watch Star Wars, if he doesn't "get it" that's fine, that'll just give reason for rewatches

I don't remember how young I was, but it had to be pretty young, like 5 or 6. I don't remember anything from seeing them when I was a kid other than thinking ewoks were awesome.

Both of my kids are Star Was junkies. 9g and 11b. We started with the OG Star Wars trilogy at 7/5 and went from there.

I believe my daughter was in 3rd grade and my son was in 1st. They loved it. Seeing them react to “I am your father” for their first time was almost as fun as when I did.

I threw on Phantom Menace like a fool and we watched 30 minutes lol, lil baw didn’t have a damn clue about the politics and asked a million questions about what was going on but he instantly liked Obi Wan and loved the planet core sequence. Couldn’t stop talking about it at bedtime
I’ll continue tomorrow, I figure he won’t get the politics of it for another ten years but he’ll love the podracing sequence tomorrow night, that’s all that matters I guess

My kids were 6 and 9 when Phantom Menace premiered and they were way into it already. I remember getting them tie-in kids books.

My son is almost 7 snd I want to say I got him on SW when he was like 3. He loves them.
He hasn’t seen every one (I think we stopped at TFA) because some of the newer ones can get a little intense. He’s also seen Solo and Rogue One.
But honestly, his interest in them waned a bit eventually. He still loves it but we don’t watch them nearly as often as we used to.
If he’s 5.5 and clamoring for it, I say let it rip. And I’m a big believer of showing them as intended, in the order they were released.

My grandpa showed me the original trilogy (1994 vhs box set the last time the un-altered trilogy was released) when I was 5. The only one that scared me was the first 30 minutes of Return of the Jedi.

Early. Then the sequels came out, then the d plus shows - then my cancellation of Disney plus, and they never ask to watch it

I grew up on Lego Star Wars:the video game on ps2. Good idea!
