Problem is you don't have any source material for a Valerya story. Would love for GRRM to write one.
Don’t give the mfr any ideas. He needs to finish asoiaf

The Harrenhal storyline is BORING fodder. They are moving SO slow to stretch this to their 4-5 season “magic number” of seasons. They learned that 10 seasons is too much for most shows not called Sopranos….the actors get too expensive.
That being said, this book doesn’t have the wit or charm….or any character development at all as it reads like a (several accounts) history book.
GRRM added a meaningless character called Mushroom to the book to have some humor and wit, but it ended up being so meaningless that they left him out of the show.

Isn't the book supposed to be a sixth-hand account of everything that happened? It was written by a maester like 150 years after all the events occurred. The show is what actually happened.

Decent filler episode
Id call this more of a chess piece episode than a filler episode.
Filler episodes are entries in a generally continuous serial that are unrelated to the main plot, don't significantly alter the relations between the characters, and generally serve only to take up space.
This episode showed stuff happen that has to happen for the rest of the plot to make any sense, especially the last scene.

I feel like they aren't doing enough to show Daemon's leadership qualities. The first season showed how loyal his men were
quote:
Over the centuries, House Targaryen has produced both great men and monsters. Prince Daemon was both. In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains.[2]

Yea it's legit bad. It's been the only bad part of the entire season imo but they have already spent way too much time there and are wasting a great character. There ls seriously nothing good about that story line.
Went from easily the best episode of the entire series to possibly the worst. It wasn't bad TV and I enjoyed the episode but it was definitely on the weaker side. But given just how good last week was, they get a pass.

Marching the dragon head through the streets seemed to back fire on them. I bet Otto would've known better.
Cole is just a bozo. There is seriously nothing redeeming about his character. As miserable as Joffrey was, he was a great character that made you hate him. As evil as Ramsey was, he was still a badass. Cole is just an annoying bitch that makes dumb decision after dumb decision. Just an awful character. He can't die soon enough.

They’ve ruined Daemon this season. What an absolute waste of the best actor on the show.
He has the qualities to be a Tywin, Tyrian or Bron.
Just terrible storyline with him wasting away there.

Last night was the first time they needed Mushroom.
They don’t go looking for riders in the lineage of married off members of the family.
Mushroom reminds them that their family has been fricking anything they could for generations and their bastards are called dragonseeds.

Also it seems like maybe they wrote Nettles out of the show?
BOOK SPOILER:
She is an easy character to write out. She doesn't do much in the books that NEEDS to be told. I assume they will skip the part where her and Daemon go hunting for Aemond and Vhagar and just have Daemon go to Harrenhal alone and wait for Aemond.

A part of me thought this episode maybe they’re mixing nettles and alys and perhaps even shipping daemon and Alys but who knows
That's the impression I'm getting as well. Which makes you wonder if the Aemond part of her storyline will ever happen. Or if they're going to go off page in his progression.

quote:I’d like to see them move it along and have Daemon do stuff instead of half the episode being visions. Right now anything Team Black is boring to me. All the characters just sulk on Dragonstone. The Green/King’s Landing characters and storylines do a much better job of holding my attention and I’d rather they get more screen time.
The Harrenhal storyline is BORING fodder.

quote:Yeah GOT benefits from a much wider variety of locations and perspectives. There were POVs all over the world while so far in HotD we’ve just had royal family in KL and royal family on Dragonstone, plus Daemon sitting at Harrenhall. Martin should have made Mushroom in the book a normal jester instead of a midget so he could be included for a little levity and not be seen as a Tyrion knockoff. I feel like they could have also given Daemon some jokes or levity on par with Jaime in the original show.
The depth definitely isn’t as good as GOT

To be fair to Cole, he was part of the planning that has them with the upper hand in the war at the moment. He then did his part to make it all happen. If not for Aegon's need to do something, they would be heavily in the lead.
But yeah, everything else he has done has been a failure.

Is it confirmed that Sunfyre is dead on the show? WTH?

I had to rewind it when they mentioned it. They said they left Sunfyre at the field under protection because he was "dying". I suspect his trajectory will remain the same since in the books he wasn't able to fly/be moved until much later.

They said dying, not dead. I would imagine that he looked to be dying to them since they have never seen dragons have such wounds inflicted upon them and don't know how well they heal.
There is no way that they kill him off at this point though. He has too much of a role to play in the future.

Last night saw two Tik Toks of scenes in Game of Thrones that spoil HotD that I never thought about.
One when Stannis was talking to Shireen and she told him she was reading a Dance with Dragons and what the battle was about. Stannis asked her why it was named that and that it was a dumb name and Shireen said she thought it was poetic.
Another was the scene when Joffrey was showing Margery around the castle and he's kind of bragging about dead Targaryens and dead dragons and he tells her what happens to Rhaenyra. If someone has a good memory, they already have Rhynaerys ending spoiled. even if they haven't read the books.

While I like seeing the creepiness of Harrenhal (I love that it’s always raining and leaking
), this is about how I feel about Daemon there right now.
