I find it hard to believe that they cast D’Arcy at all.

As with most woke tv shows now the black men are emasculated. The Sea Snake gets his relevance from being married to the “rightful Queen” and takes his orders from her. His son is a puff of course and will be run over by his wife but the daughter will be strong willed and steer Deamon politically once they’re together. It’s fricking pathetic, this show has one character now and people are watching an hour of tv for 5 minutes of entertainment.

It's a dead heat between her and the chick from the new Indiana Jones movie.

There’s so much I could pick apart there, but it’s really not worth it.

Pretty par for the course of TV history, and what you're describing would be considered the opposite of what most think of as woke.
I agree with your point about one character, though. I think the quality has dropped severely with each of the past two episodes. I hope the show can settle into a stable pace with the next time jump.

Well, admittedly they didn’t show much of it by way of background, but the sea snake is just about the most famous/self made/richest person in the 7 kingdoms.

The character on the show is a shitty tactician, can’t fight, is dismissed at court and is married to the “rightful ruler of Westeros”. He’s a beta in every way who has to side with an outcast that ends up winning his war for him single handily. The things you’re describing about him are window dressing, the functional character is an emasculated black man.

Losing Milly Alcock is going to be a bigger loss than people think.

He left willingly. He was not dismissed.

all you've proven is that you're unable to follow the show and what's been happening.
the king literally went crawling back to the sea snake to beg forgiveness and offered his own daughter in marriage to his son to make amends... not because of his wife, but because of his powerful navy and wealth (which he had prior to marrying). the king's council advised him to do so as he was going to wed his daughter to some other lord in braavos which would end up threatening their own power.
does that sound like 'esmasculation' to anyone with a brain?

Right, the King essentially begged Corlys to marry off his son to Rhaenyra, because he was threatened by him.
It’s definitely not normal for a king to travel to someone and ask them to marry off their child to the heir of the iron throne.
Corlys is definitely a top 5 most powerful person in Westeros.

as for the show missing Milly, people said the same thing when they killed off Ned Stark in GoT season 1. "nobody's gonna watch the show now" or "dummies just ruined everything..it won't be the same without ned" etc etc
she served her purpose which was to be the 'realm's delight' as described in the books. her role just covered a tiny/minuscule part of rhaenyra's story.

Agreed, plus, the last thing the king is going to do is go grovel to the Queen That Never Was. His whole life has been spent not giving her any extra legitimacy.

you're right, the show actually got bigger and better (at least seasons 2 through 5)

I look at the aged up recasting like I look at when they recasted for The Crown after Claire Foy. It was a really hard act for Olivia Colman to follow but she was amazing. And it felt more appropriate to have a less youthful actress for the period of her life they were addressing (also a big time jump).
And the age-up feels appropriate here for a lot of the same reasons. While I’ve loved Milly in the role, she also looks very young (think back to her creepy arse scene with Daemon in the pleasure house) and I think it’d be difficult to age her up appropriately with just makeup. There’s something to also be said to the rate which her position would age her just because of the stress of being the heir that no one really wants, constantly surrounded by people who want her gone. At the point of the time jump she’s lost her youth and she’s a pretty hard bitch.

On thinking will say about the recasting is that D’Arcy really looks like Paddy Considine’s daughter in costume.
The shape of their nose and mouth is very similar.

I couldn’t care less what her “orientation” is, if she’s a good actress then I’m all for it. The casting has been spot on for the first 5 episodes so I trust that they casted good options for the two main characters with multiple season arcs. Can’t wait to see how all of this pops off. Everybody says the dance is mind blowing so I’m pumped
Matt Smith said his favorite episode is 7 so I wonder what that could be.
