Princess Rhaenrya has 2 different actresses. The one on the front page is the older version of her.

So there's a time jump in this? And it's early enough that they didn't even use the current actress we see in the marketing material?

Example, the secret of the Song of Ice & Fire passed down to the heirs. Sounds cool until you realize it's all BS. That the Prince That Was Promised gets upstaged by his little sister and the Night King's army gets wiped out in about a minute at the end of the first battle. R+L=J ends up meaning absolutely nothing.

Prequels suffer from the audience knowing the endin

Come on man let me enjoy this moment

Were they all great from the first episode?

I couldn't care less about gratuitous sex and violence. That shite is boring to me.

Fair enough. The birthing scene was hard to watch.

What is it with people getting upset about people not loving the first episode? Its just a TV show for Christ's sake. I'm actually pretty shocked that so many on here liked it so much.

I couldn't care less. I might end up not liking it, I thought that was a strong episode though. They were using a bunch of different ways to try and get GoT fans to enjoy it though that's for sure. Just seeing a "it was boring" critique was odd to me. There was a lot going on. But if you only care about the characters and need them to be great in one episode then I get it. I think Daemon, Rhaenyra, and Otto have potential to be really good characters fairly early on.

Hell one of the dudes earlier said he was five minutes in and it was boring and the show sucked. Because you know you definitely can tell if an epic fantasy sucks or not in the the first five minutes.

Here in the GoT world, the tournament seems more akin to a lethal gladiatorial combat, in which the combatants could escalate the fight however they wanted. And as established in GoT, there doesn’t appear to be much of a tradition of sportsmanship at all. So I guess it’s Thunderdome. Horses are fair game, too.

I was more surprised by the various houses just risking the lives of their valuable male heirs and family members in a tournament like that. Screw that.

Someone in the royal "booth" I guess you would call it made a comment akin to "Oh here we go" when there was some extracurricular fighting that started. So just the joust was all that was necessarily sanctioned, but it was up to the combatants to enforce the rules themselves similar to how hockey allows fights, though obviously not to the death

It took a while for me to get invested in the characters in the first GoT, and because of the political theater of it you really didn't know several of the characters until almost a full season in.

I think they went in a good direction by focusing on just a handful of characters for now, instead of introducing us to an entire family, then most of the Lannisters, the council, etc

I think if I was the guy that got his face smashed in, I probably would have yielded before I let it go that far

Otto has the littlefinger vibe going on. Daemon seems to be he's alot more controlled than he's letting on. The council is vastly underestimating him.

Theres probably a point in a fight like that where you get so wounded that you think you'll just die later anyway, or your quality of life will be so bad that you might as well just continue. Or you're just too pissed to stop

The episode while good wasn't fun. Every character was just moody, they really needed some light hearted character / dialog for contrast.

Moody characters aren't interesting. In GoT S1 the only moody character was Ned, everyone else had range that hid how Fd up they were.

I am pretty sure it is the same dagger.

I think they estimate him correctly which is why they couldn't support his claim to be heir. He's ruthless and would stop at nothing to bring everyone to heel. They know he's a problem to contend with which is why they brought up the fact he is beloved by the Gold Cloaks and that is a sizable force of trained combatants (within the capitol walls) to quell.

The black guy is a Velaryon but they’re not far removed from the Targaryen line in the first place. I think one of Aegon I’s parents was a Velaryon. Yes technically the guy probably shouldn’t be black but it’s a fantasy show with dragons and shite and it’s as good an opportunity to bring in a good black actor as ever. It’s not like it’s a Shonda Rhymes show and every person is black, they switched one guy, and the character is interesting so who cares? I didn’t find it distracting.

it is

“According to showrunner Ryan Condal, this is the very same dagger that cropped up during Game of Thrones. The production decided to use the iconic weapon to provide a visual connection to Game of Thrones, since “there’s a ton of shared history here.”

I guess maybe I should say that the brother is underestimating him. I think the problem is basically exactly what was said by daemon. The council can control the king right now and they know they can't control Daemon so they don't want to allow him any power.

I thought that they were at least intriguing from the first episode.

I will admit that I might be just burned out/turned off due to how GoT ended up. I think that Daemon is probably the best character so far, but even he doesn't really do much for me. Like I said, I am going to keep watching. I didn't think that it was awful, I just wasn't that enthralled.
