I think the only potential review bombers for Horizon are the boomers pissed he left Yellowstone to make it.

This movie’s run time is really going to hurt it. Doesn’t help that they’ve already said it’s intended to be a 4 part story and they’ve only committed to the first two parts.
That said, I do hope it does well if it genuinely is a good movie. Unless the WOM is elite level, I’ll probably wait until it’s streaming to see it and if it’s worth the time I’ll go see the follow up in theaters next year.

So clearly, like with The Acolyte, it's being review bombed.
Right?
Isn't that how this works?
No, dipshit. These people have seen the movie. Also, 46% means roughly half of those reviews are positive.
The movie isn't getting killed, it's getting shrugged. Metacritc score at 51. The vast majority of the reviews are in the middle, with only a few reviews being outright praise or hate. Several of you are trying to gin up a narrative about hating Costner so you can either get defensive if the movie doesn't do well or get boastful about smashing the libs if it does. Either way, it will be dumb.
Most of the reviews are saying it feels episodic. It's 3 hours long, and it's the first chapter of four planned 3-hour films. That's a lot of episodes. Hopefully it will play well to a base, but it definitely looks like a tough sell for a mainstream box-office smash.

There might not be a more appropriate and straightforward way to open an American Western than with a scene of a white settler tracing the foundations of the house he wants to build on some seemingly available plot of land. The colonial question at the heart of the genre is thus immediately introduced in Horizon: An American Saga—Chapter 1....
...Costner’s perspective on that question, however, isn’t entirely clear in that opening sequence, but it does end with the settler and his young child being killed by Apaches who are defending their territory, highlighting their rightful angerabout our history.

I am not gonna pay attention to the critics for this one. I know they are gonna hate it because theres probably no woke shite
It probably doesn’t portray western settlers as imperialist committers of genocide so it won’t be liked by the media.

It’s also a historical epic and they work so hard and spend so much money on destroying our history or any marker of that history so of course they’re going to absolutely hate these movies.

By next year you mean August.

Even if it had great reviews it would be a massive surprise for it to crack $100m opening weekend
I think he meant overall. Not opening weekend.
If he expects chapter one to be over 100 million opening weekend he is delusions.

We're going Friday.
KC was on Rich Eisen's show the other day and gave a great interview about Horizon and why he left Yellowstone. It made total sense. The man does love him some Westerns, which is great.
I am concerned about the length of this initial chapter, but I do want to see it on the big screen.

What was theLast Bad Western you remember staring Kevin Costner? Remember he was behind bringing Dances With Wolves to the silver screen and it won the Oscar for best picture.

True.
Open Range wasn't bad either.
He believes in this enough to put his own money in it, and had committed to doing it before Yellowstone. Then, when Yellowstone went longer than anyone thought it would, he had to leave to honor contracts he made to do Horizon.
That's what he said in the interview which I thought was very candid.

Yellowstone. Other than that, he's got a pretty good track record with westerns.

I really enjoy Westerns but a 3 hr movie (with part 2 coming out in a couple of months) about an almost 70 year old playing cowboy isn't that high in the rankings of having a good time.
July is pretty stacked at the box office, I'll probably give it a pass.

Anything below 60 is rotten. You're coping hard if you think 'roughly half' are positive. That's not reflected by the score.
Audiences could love it. IDK. We'll just have to wait and see.
