History channel shows - do they solve anything

I was doing some research over Custer’s last stand after reading a book on the Indian Wars. I found a few history channel shows involving looking for that particular battles artifacts such as rifles, uniforms etc.
Anyway it made me think after similar shows like Oak Island, DB Cooper etc do they ever really solve anything or is it all just a tease?
I don’t think I’ve ever watched Oak Island, but I did watch a few episodes of DB Cooper and I think they ran out of time on their digging permit.

After they solved WWII, The History Channel stopped trying.

Of course they've solved it, they just won't tell us to keep the series going.
No one would watch Finding Bigfoot Episode 2 if it was revealed they found him in Episode 1.

Goodness- you would think they’d eventually want to solve it or just say we’ve wasted everyone’s time we are full of shite and there’s nothing else to see. Ha

History Channel probably second to MTV in how far they've fallen and how far away from their subject matter they are.

History Channel is one of the worst examples of failing to carry out a worthy concept ever. I guess costs and ratings don't support what a legit channel for history should be.

Valid points - it was one of my favorite programs a few years back

Those Bigfoot shows and Ancient Aliens with Georgio the wild haired guy are nothing more than comic relief for me----IF I decide to tune in.
The Bigfoot shows are all basically the same: Rednecks go in the woods after locals report sightings, walk around at night with night vision equipment, knock on trees, howl out, toss big rocks to try to get responses.
ANY noise is automatically a Bigfoot responding and they run hell bent for leather in the direction of the noise, only to say "We just missed it".
Tune in next week when we do this all over again.

They're going to solve the Oak Island mystery any day now!

History should just run three different versions of Alone simultaneously.

I remember learning stuff on TLC

I remember when the History Channel used to be pejoratively referred to as the "Hitler Channel." Do they even show WW2 docs anymore? Or is it all ancient aliens and unsolved-history-mystery shows?

The lady who took them over long ago made the channel waaaay more profitable but destroyed the educational value. A common theme in todays society.
They are really the Speculative Mystery and Reality channel now.

AHC (American Hero's Channel) and Smithsonian Channel are now my go to places for WWII Docs. enjoy watching them both.

I miss the days of an educational History Channel. I remember getting up in the mornings and watching The Real West hosted by Kenny Rogers. Unfortunately, now its programming is meh.

The best shows they’ve done in recent years have been the “that made America” series. The dramatizations are kind of lame, but at least they’re telling true and interesting stories.
