Do you feel the same way about the Narnia books even though they fall in line with your beliefs?

Will watch. Love Ruth Wilson and I thought that little girl from Logan was The best young actor I’ve seen in a while.

Interesting, good to know. BBC usually does a great job with series so that isn’t a negative imo.

Recorded tonight, looking forward to catching it tomorrow

I enjoyed the 1st episode.

Set up the world and the conflicts handily enough. They aren't skimping on the familiars and even have the non settled ones do their shape changes.
Cast melded well for me.

Wife never read the books but likes what she saw.

maybe they'll be less likely to try to dissuade kids from Christianity in the thinly veiled guise of a young adult book.
This isn't possible, theologically speaking.

I wonder if HBO will go cheap on the familiars like they did with GOT’s dire wolves?

These daemon seem to be far more intrinsic to the story (actual characters instead of symbols) than the dire wolves of GoT.

I haven't read the series and I know nothing other than what the trailers showed. With that said, solid first episode. X-23 seemed a little stiff in some scenes but overall she did well. Her uncle Young Professor X is a bit of a dick though (but understandable once you realize he's trying to keep her at a distance because of the heresy he was about to be spilling.

I find myself more interested in the Gobblers and what they are wanting all those kids for than I am in Lyra's story at the moment (although I am interested in both).

Then stop using my childhood crush Kirk Cameron to sway me back to church.

Looking forward to watching this. Love some of the BBC crossovers in other platforms and this looks cast well. I’ve never read the books though.

Fell asleep halfway through. I have been looking forward to this and the watchmen as much as any show since GoT ended and I keep falling asleep during them because I dont start until midnight.

I was watching and Lyra was playing with Will and then next thing I know I look up and Mrs Coulter was telling a story.

Pantalaimon looked awesome. Not sure about everybody else but I think the CGI for the Daemnons looked pretty good.

I know right

Just finished the episode. I liked it a lot. Bad child acting could almost ruin the show but Lyra and Roger did a really nice job. Ruth Wilson is perfect for that role.

The gobblers are a major story line and you'll find out sooner than later what's going on with them.

Huh? I mean Tolkien is my favorite author of all time so I wouldnt care either way, I like him bc of his literature, not his religious beliefs. But Tolkien was a Christian his whole life. C.S. Louis, a close friend, was an atheist (I think) for a while when they were younger but Tolkien actually brought him back to Christianity.

You've read this more recently than me, but I don't remember flipperarms being in the book. Was that a thing?

Well, we watched it. Now the kids don’t want to go to church anymore.
