Cavill is great and you know he's going to commit to the character and give you his A game every time.

Nice, I'm in.

I feel like Pedro Pascal could take over a similar role to Connery.

or Oscar Isaac, guys who are of ambiguous ethnic origin would make it more authentic for sure.

Absolutely. Love that ending fight scene music. I point it out to people whenever I can. I'll be very impressed if this new film can match the music of either Kamen or Queen. That's a rare conjunction of talent and results.

i saw that movie as a teenager in the late 90s and went out and bought the album. great from top to bottom.

No we need a Scottish actor clearly not from Spain (while ironically speaking to a Scotsman played by an actor from other origins). I suggest Gerard Butler.

I love a highlander so much but the casting director was on coke.

French Actor playing a Scot
Scottish actor playing an Egyptian by way of Spain.

I'm shocked that they cast a white guy.

I wasn't really into the TV show, and the sequel films were awful. I really hope they don't go with that narrative. It's better when you don't know why the immortals exist.

Oh man, I'm excited for this. I was a huge fan of the first movie and the TV show.

Hopefully there are cameos by both Lambert and Adrian Paul.

There can be only one.

I didn't know Chad Stahelski was directing this. Makes me feel a touch better but it does not need to be a John wick ripoff at all.

The only thing that gives me hope for this is that Cavill is attached to it. Hopefully that means they won’t stray too far from the source material. I’ve seen so many great IPs get ruining by trying to “subvert expectations” or insert politics or social commentary into movies that should just be fun, entertaining escapism.

I mean, the Highlander source material is an absolute mess. Of all the hallowed and sacred IPs, this one is well down the list.

There is the original movie, and then mostly utter shite after that

im not sure Cavill would commit to the film if they tried to go too far from the source material - he seems to genuinely care about the source materials.

i mean him in the Witcher is pretty evident of that - and when they decided to go a different way, he bowed out

You have a legitimate point, they really turned the Highlander mythos inside out (and every other way) in the sequels. They also screwed up their own internal rules.

I just want it to be based in the original Highlander mythos, and I would really like it to be a fun movie that does homage to the original, rather than one that seems purposely intended to give its fans the finger like so many other reboots.

In the last movie Paul wss the last of them. So this would have to be a complete reboot with no link to the original

This will air in 2027 and we'll get 3 seasons before it is unceremoniously canceled mid storyline.

No, they should cast Ewan McGregor and let him use his normal accent, just to be faithful to the original.
