Has any recent movie come close to Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders is basically the greatest adventure film ever made and easily one of the most rewtcahble, ageless, perfectly crafted pictures.
I consider it and The Adventures of Robin Hood the two pillars of the genre.
I was too young to see it in the theater (not even born yet), but I have family members that still talk about how they went in to the movie knowing nothing and leaving saying it was the most incredible thing they had ever seen. Robin Hood in 1938, with its technicolor and dazzling stunts and scale (which still hold up today), was basically the same thing.
But I cannot think of a giant action or adventure movie in recent memory that had that kind of effect on audiences. Jurassic Park kind of did to those who saw it in 1993, but that was 25+ yrs ago now.
I wonder if it's even possible anymore with the way media Is marketed and discussed and is so driven by social media and clickbait.

Watched it with my nephew and it is still as good for him as it was for me as a kid. Was awesome to see it through his eyes.

No, and the main reason is CGI. It's completely removed the feeling of danger and intrigue for me because you know it's not even there.

I don’t know that any movie had the same feeling as Raiders when it came out. I’ve seen better movies but it’s still my all time favorite.

i thought the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie was extremely fun, entertaining, rewatchable, etc.

I was 9 the summer it came out. Dad took me to see it, and I was blown away. I'm 48 now, and it's still my favorite movie.

I still have a huge problem with the chase scene in the desert - how a truck drives off a monster cliff one minute and the very next scene they’re in a grove of trees with no mountains or cliffs in sight.

Can't argue with Last Crusade. It was my favorite of the three.

I don't know if any of you live near a Marcus Cinema but they are showing The Last Crusade today at 1pm and again at 7pm on Monday and Wednesday. $6

National Treasure may not be quite as good but it certainly deserves a mention as far as excellent, rewatchable adventure films go.

No. Definitely in my top 5 favorite movies of all time.
