Oppenheimer is the only one I'd actually heard of before last night.

Also was it assumed that the tranny cartel movie would win until the actress made "racist" tweets?

1- Dune, Part 2
2- Oppenheimer
3- EEAAO
4- Coda
5- Nomadland

If the Academy weren’t so fricking biased against Sci-Fi, this is how this list would look. Anora shouldn’t have even sniffed BP.

Why not have Dune over CODA? Unlike Anora, coda isn't good

The only one I've seen is the Short Round karate acid movie and it was awful. One of these days I'll watch Oppenheimer.

Anora is awesome. It’s like an A24 film.

*I haven't seen Anora, but I don't see a world where it's a worse movie or winner than Nomadland.

Coda and Nomadland are not good movies..

Of 3 left:

Oppenheimer
EEAAO
Anora (good move but not great like the other two)

Surprised people didn’t like CODA. I thought it was a very unique take on your typical coming of age story.

And someone already answered but Anora is in no way woke or anything like that.

Like The Florida Project it deals with the fringe doing what they need to do to get by but both films make it obvious that these types of people make often very poor and dumb decisions. Florida Project spoiler below:

No one thinks it’s smart to whore yourself with your damn daughter in the room, regardless of your circumstance. Like maybe try and get an actual job like some of the other people who live in that hotel (like the mom of her daughter’s friend Scooty).

Here’s the thing: I really don’t give a shite anymore. Used to maybe 20 years ago.

I can name 10 movies each year I’d rather see than most of those listed. It’s a popularity contest where millions are invested into winning. That’s it.

10 movies that are better, or 10 movies you are more interested in seeing?

And, yeah, votes are by definition popularity contests.

Movies are no longer voted on for what they bring to Art Form. They get selected if they fill a quota and are efficent in pushing the message. Example: Reagan wasn't nominated because it didn't include enough people of color.

I've only seen two so I'll rank them thusly:

1: Oppenheimer
2.
3.
4.
5. Everything Everywhere All At Once. (and I'd rate this lower if I could).
