She explained it when she was talking to Daemon in the beginning. The high septon was telling people that it Aegon's "resurrection" was a sign from the gods that he is the rightful king. The high septon confirms this when she first starts talking to him.

I watched the first episode and a half or so of this season I could never really remember what was going on, so I kind of just gave up.

I thought last night was one of the better episodes of the season. Roddy was great, and the High Septon scene made sense given that he was openly backing Aegon’s claim.

Ulf’s turn bothered me more. I can buy him becoming resentful, but the full betrayal felt too abrupt and too conveniently timed. HotD sometimes spends forever setting things up, then rushes the character decisions that actually need more development.

Still, I think Season 3 was much better than Season 2. Not peak GoT, but definitely not garbage either.

I understand most of the characters aren't written to be very likeable but they still missed some chances. People liked Daemon until they sent him to purgatory in Harrenhall for a full season. Some people started to like Aemond then they decided to double down on the Harrenhall mistake.

Daeron seems like a character the audience could connect with, but instead he gets very little screen time. Ormund could've been a guy everyone loves to hate, but also not enough screen time. Otto and Larys were conniving and gave the audience ideas and conspiracies to speculate on but they've been removed from the story. The crazy northerners would've been loved by everyone and their deaths wouldve been a gut punch but they didn't get enough screen time so it was another missed opportunity. Hugh could be a guy we root for and his wife's death could've made us feel something, but again no screen time.

S1 allowed the audience to connect with Alicent and Rhaenyra and feel something for them, then they complete undid all of that over the next 2 seasons. Instead of making us feel sympathetic to Rhaneyra's fold under the pressure of the crown, they just made us despise her incompetence.

The source material is so good that the show still comes out okay. But it's like the show is being written by a bunch of students doing a group project. In hindsight S1 was actually pretty good and set everything up perfectly, but now they're missing the layup.

Someone posted earlier that their dragons are mates. I don't remember that but if true then I'd expect Hughs dragon will be defending Ulf from Daemon whether he wants to or not. Seems silly that Daemon would attack silverwing in that scenario but the scene cut off before we could see Hugh's dragons response to Daemons attack

I kept waiting for all of them to just get lit up in a blaze by Ulf during that scene. They were all looking for him, he was pissed about not being respected by anyone....would've been the perfect opportunity for him to take her out right in the middle of this big speech.

Couple other things that seemed to be left a little unclear to me. Did Rheanyra’s entire army get wiped out by Ulf? Did they lose the battle or did they just “lose” the city because it got burned to ashes? I assume they won but the city is toast.

That’s because it’s being written by Sarah Weis and a bunch of radical marxists/feminists that are more interested in selling their ideology than telling good stories or being faithful to the source material.

Did you hear the actresses saying “see look, it’s an allegory for fascism” in the inside the episode?

I dont think they lost the entire army.

Dany wiped out the Lannister army on the gold road. Somehow there were a bunch of Lannister soldiers left to defend Kings Landing when she went mad queen.

The dothraki were wiped out at the opening of the battle of Winterfell. They still had dothraki around when Dany takes KL

Plot armor for wiped out armies is thick in these shows
