So I don’t think much time has passed since Aegon got burned, maybe a couple of weeks at most.

Do dead dragons not decompose then? Neither Sunfyre or Meleys appear to have decomposed at all. You'd think that a dead animal that's been sitting there for months would have decomposed to the point where most of the soft tissue is gone and all that's left is rotten hide and bones. And that any remaining tissue would be covered in flies and smell awful.
Or just lazy work by the writers and producers to not have shown the dragons decomposed to make sure viewers knew a fair amount of time had passed since the battle?

I think some of it has to do that they are instilled with magic of Old Valyria. Not the run of the mill forest animal

But it definitely takes humans longer than two weeks to heal from 3rd degree burns all over their bodies, as well as multiple broken bones.

Maybe. I haven't read the books, so I don't know if that's mentioned by GRRM somewhere. They can be injured, they bleed, and they can be killed like any normal animal. The only reference I remember about dragons and magic from the shows was in GOT (season 2 i think) where Daenerys was imprisoned by that weird warlock guy who said something about his own magic becoming more powerful once dragons were reborn into the world.

Melys definitely looked to be in worse shape than Aegons dragon. Aegon thinks he's still alive, and I doubt that was a throwaway line.
Interesting that the Hightowers are now supporting Daeron as king. So now there are 3-4 teams: Rhaenyra/Starks/Velaryons, Daeron/Hightowers, Aemond/Cole/Lannisters (guessing the Hightowers with Cole may split off at some point?), and potentially Aegon trying to find his way back.
Rhaenyra seems cooked. She is not ruling well at all and has already angered the upper class in Kings Landing as well as her biggest ally in Corlys. She's not treating Ulf and Hugh well at all nor is she paying the gold cloaks. And the smallfolk are likely to turn against her soon as well if they are hungry. Then she may have lost a potential ally in Rhaena and Sheepstealer. It's hard to believe you can seize kings landing and then immediately become the least likely to win the war. She is certain to find out Daemon lied about sheepstealer and drive a wedge between them as well. And I wouldn't be surprised if Alicent is cooking up a scheme to get out with Helaena being pregnant.
Daeron may be calm natured enough to swing a few people to his side so long as Ormund doesn't go too insane. When they brought justice to the assaulter on Hugh's wife I wondered if they might end up swinging Hugh to their side, but then they killed her brother
Daeron will have to find some allies bc right now he has 1 army in a town surrounded by large dragons and he has only 1 small dragon. Maybe Vhagar helps them get out before Aemond finds out they're supporting Daeron as king.

Might just be because Cole's men removed Meleys' head to parade it through King's Landing

I thought the same thing. I could very well see his dragon "waking up" by season end

That dragon has to wake up. They made it a point to show him abd even had Aegon declare him alive. Feels like foreshadowing to me.

After all the stuff that's gone down I think I'm turning to team Aegon. No Aemond, just Aegon.

They are making him out to be the most relatable. Do we think his walk through the life of the lower class will soften him as a leader? Knowing the shite people have to go through might make him more sympathetic to the issues of the small folk.
OR
It might just make him resent the individuals that put him through tat shite and make him meaner. Wonder how it will go?

He's certainly the character with the best opportunity for a redemption arc. I wonder about how effective the dragon will be even if it's alive. It's still in bad shape.

Yes but this show doesn't feel very redemption arc-ey so far. Feels like they are all spoiled brats that have no idea how to do anything right. While he could be the one that sees the light, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't.

Me too. Do dragons heal magically or will he be a crippled dragon?

Pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with magic of Valyria. We know they do decompose because there were wild dragons that fed on the corpses of other dragons. They decompose slower because of an internal fire. Sunfyre is not decomposing because of the internal fire and more importantly he's obviously still alive.
One of the more random plot holes this season because Daemon talks about Sunfyre being dead/rotting/decomposing and he certainly doesn't look rotted, he just looks like a dragon that is sleeping.

I think at this point we can safely say that Daemon embelishes and/or manipulates the truth. He may have said that to make Rhaenyra feel better. Or he could have said it because Sunfyre hasn't moved in a long time so he assumed it was dead and he threw in the decomposing and rotting as an embelishment.

Ormund is making me shift my allegiance toward the Greens. Great character

Think it's safe to say that Daemon just isn't the brightest in the show. I mean getting the wrong kid and leaving the dragon behind was just a major blunder too. He's a great character (outside of season 2) but he makes some dumb decisions.
That being said, the season has been very good.

I wonder how much of this is just bad writing and how much is purposeful. Meaning are they bad at making decisions and waging war because their family has been on the throne for so long that they forgot to teach the next generation how to scheme?
In GOT everyone was alive during Robert's rebellion and grew up in a landscape where you had to be cunning and ruthless to climb the social ladder. In HOTD, things have been stagnant for a VERY long time.

I think bad writing.
He is the only one on both sides making halfway decent decisions. Some of this is like watching two crummy teams play each other . Only a few flashes of brilliance and that's it.
Aemon been a huge disappointment. He's been pretty much sidelined all season but for one scene.
